Pakistan’s tainted former cricket captain, Salman Butt, is in the news again for playing in Ajman All Stars T20 League held recently, which is being investigated by the anti corruption unit of the International Cricket Council (ICC).

Butt, who along with Mohammad Asif was handed a five year ban from 2010 to 2016 by the ICC for spot-fixing matches, were among a few Pakistani players who took part in the private T20 league. The league caught the attention of ICC when video footage from the matches was aired and consisted of questionable dismissals and behaviour on the part of players.

Though the aired footage of the match didn’t include any Pakistani cricketers, Butt has revealed that he did play two matches in the league. Speaking to PTI, Butt even said that he’s happy that the league is being investigated as it had a lot of flaws and was unsanctioned, something which he got to know after he took part in it. He also said that since the spot-fixing scandal he tries to stay away from controversies as much as he can.

The Ajman All stars T20 league has apparently been termed as illegal by Emirates Cricket Council and by the Ajman Cricket Council.
