‘Get your facts checked:’ Home Min Anil Deshmukh slams ex-Mayor Joshi on ‘congratulatory’ tweet
Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh, on Saturday, responded to Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) former Mayor of Nagpur Sandeep Joshis tweet on him and said that Joshi should get his facts checked before posting anything on social media.
A few days ago, Joshi took to Twitter and posted a creative congratulatory message for Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Deshmukh, after Nagpur ranked second to Patna in most murders in 2019.
Referring to a media report, based on the National Crime Record Bureau (NCRB) stats of 2019, Joshi sarcastically pointed mismanagement of law and order by the states Home Minister two days after resigning as Mayor of Nagpur.
Joshi had written, Congratulations to Home Minister Saheb. In the last one year, under your leadership, Nagpur ranked second to Patna. This is a record in the history of past 70 years, Congratulations on that. Thank you!
I think Joshi forgot who was in the power in 2019, which party was leading Maharashtra governmentAnd who was the Home Minister, under whom such records were achieved, said Deshmukh calling out, former Chief Minister of Maharashtra, BJP’s Devendra Fadnavis-led state government.
He further stated that Joshi should have had a double-check on his facts before posting anything on public platforms.
We have managed to bring the crime rate under control. Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA)-led Maharashtra government is committed in making the state free from crime. I will soon make the latest records public, in which, people could see the progress we have made in less than 11 months of our governance, said Deshmukh while mentioning the progress of MVA.
Deshmukh retorted, We are ready to take credit for adding momentum to projects started by the former BJP state government; won’t accept critics for their wrong-doings.
However, Nagpur Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar, while speaking to Nation Next, had clarified by saying that the statistics of Nagpur being second to Patna, was an old figure and certainly that wasn’t the present situation.
A total of 22 patients tested positive for COVID-19 in Nagpur in past 24 hours on Thursday. Almost 242 people were tested in the city, out of which 15 belonged to urban area while and 6 were from the rural areas, and one from outside Nagpur district.
At present, there are 72 active patients in the city. Three new cases of the new XBB.1.16 variant of COVID-19 were detected that took the total tally to five in the district.
India recorded 3,095 new COVID cases and five deaths in last 24 hours.

RCNV
Under the aegis of Diabetes patronage program at AIIMS, Rotary Club of Nagpur Vision – RCNV – members sponsored five children for this financial year by handing over a cheque of ₹1,25,000 to the Director of AIIMS Maj. Gen (Dr ) Vibha Dutta, SM.
This project takes care of all the needs like insulin, glucometer,special diet and other consumables required by the children suffering from the dreaded and debilitating disease type 1 diabetes.
President Shivani interacted with the authorities and incharge of the project Dr Meenakshi and her team. Joint secretary Dr Akshay Daga interacted with the beneficiary children and their parents exhorting the importance of discipline during the treatment.
President elect Ajay, secretary Ritika and Rtn. Arouni Verma were amongst those who were present at AIIMS, nagpur. Dr Sangeeta and Dr Akash conducted the proceedings. The gratitude felt by the parents and their blessings to our team exemplified the importance of this endeavour in shaping the lives of children suffering from type 1 diabetes.
