Nominations for NMC subject committee Chief held today; election to take place on March 1

Nomination forms for the post of Chairman and Deputy Chairman of Nagpur Municipal Subject Committees were filed on Friday and election for various committees would be held on March 1.

 

The election would be held of various subject committees as per provisions of the Maharashtra Municipal Corporation Act.

 

These committees include:

 

 Special Committee on Architecture and Projects

 

 Special Committee on Medical Services and Health

 

 Special Committee on Law and General Administration

 

 Special Committee on Education

 

 Special Committee on Elimination of Slums and Housing

 

 Special Committee on Sports

 

 Special Committee on Women and Child Welfare

 

 Special Committee on Water Supply

 

 Taxation and Tax Collection Special Committee

 

 Fire and Electricity Special Committee

 

Candidates for the post of Chairman and Deputy Chairman of all committees submitted their nomination letters on Friday, between 10 am to 1 pm at Dr Punjabrao Deshmukh Smriti Standing Committee Hall at the Corporation Headquarters.

 

Elections for the same would be held on March 1 at Dr Punjabrao Deshmukh Smriti Standing Committee Hall at the time allotted under the chairmanship of District Collector and Presiding Officer through video conferencing.

 

Timings for the subject committee are as follows:

 

 Election of Architecture and Project Special Committee at 11 am

 

 Election of Medical Services and Health Special Committee at 11.20 am

 

 Election of Law and General Administration Special Committee at 11.40 am

 

 Election of Education Special Committee at 12 noon

 

 Election of Dirty Settlement Elimination and Housing Special Committee at 12.20 pm

 

 Election of Sports Special Committee at 12.40 pm

 

 Election of Women and Child Welfare Special Committee at 1 pm

 

 Election of Water Supply Special Committee at 1.20 pm

 

 Election of Taxation and Tax Collection Special Committee at 1.40 pm

 

 Election of fire and electricity special committee will be held at 2 pm

Members of Nagpur District Yuva Sena, on June 25, ripped a banner supporting Eknath Shinde, which was placed at Chitaroli in Gandhibagh.

Members of Yuva Sena, led by Nagpur District Yuva Sena chief Vikram Rathod, on June 25, ripped a banner supporting party member Eknath Shinde, which was placed at Chitaroli in Gandhibagh. Shinde, who’s leading a group of rebel Shiv Sena MLAs, is the man behind the current political crisis in Maharashtra.

Speaking to Nation Next, Vikram Rathod said: “Eknath Shinde was given so much love and respect by Shiv Sena and in return he has betrayed the party and Balasaheb Thackeray. We condemn his conduct. We are with Uddhavji. Any banner in the city supporting Eknath Shinde will be torn off by us in similar manner.”

Shiv Sena Nagpur Pramukh Pravin Barde, Dhiraj Fandi, Manoj Sahu, Sanjay Kasodhan, Vasant Dongre, along with other Shiv Sainiks were present when the banner was ripped off.

Congress leader Ashish Deshmukh tendered his resignation as the General Secretary of MPCC to party Chief Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday, May 31.

Deshmukh said that the decision to resign was taken after the Congress nominated Imran Pratapgarhi from Maharashtra as Rajya Sabha candidate. Deshmukh said that although he has resigned from the post, he would remain in the party and continue to work for the same. 

The list of Rajya Sabha candidates by Congress that stirred massive resent in the ranks, shortlisted 34-year-old Pratapgarhi – Congress minority department chairperson and a poet from Maharashtra. He had contested the Lok Sabha polls from Moradabad on a Congress ticket but lost his seat to a BJP candidate.

Political bigwigs gathered under one roof on May 29 to extend their wishes to veteran politician and former minister Ranjeet Deshmukh at ‘Amrut Mahotsav’ organised at Suresh Bhat auditorium in Nagpur to celebrate Deshmukh’s 75th birthday. Deshmukh turned 75 last year but celebrations could not be held due to the COVID pandemic.

Lok Sabha MP Shatrughan Sinha, former Maharashtra CM Prithviraj Chavan, Maharashtra minister Balasaheb Thorat and other politicians were prominently present during the event. Deshmukh’s son Ashish Deshmukh and Dr Amol Deshmukh played perfect hosts to those who attended the event.
