Since lockdown, NMC fines over 30,000 citizens for not wearing mask | Nagpur

Nagpur Municipal Corporation’s Nuisance Detection Squad (NDS), on Monday, took action against 154 citizens for not wearing a face mask and recovered a fine of Rs 500 from each.

A total fine of Rs 77,000 was recovered from the violators on Monday. In exchange, the officials also provide violators with a mask.

Since lockdown, the civic body has recovered a total of Rs 1,38,06,500 fine from 30,895 violators, who were caught without wearing a face mask in public areas.

Although the number of COVID-19 patients have decreased, the risk of contracting the virus has not been averted yet. Even now, in many crowded areas, citizens are spotted carelessly flouting norms and not maintaining social distancing.

Hence the NDS is taking strict action against such citizens, who are endangering their own health, their family members health and overall societys health. Due to their irresponsible behaviour, we also decided to provide such violators with masks, NMC said in a statement.

On Monday, the NDS team caught two unmasked citizens under Lakshminagar Zone, 15 under Dharampeth Zone, 43 under Hanuman Nagar Zone, 11 under Dhantoli Zone, six under Nehrunagar Zone, 14 under Gandhibagh Zone, four under Satranjipura Zone, 24 under Lakadganj Zone, 13 under Ashinagar Zone, 20 under Mangalwari Zone and two citizens from NMC Headquarters, under the guidance of head of the search team Virsen Tambe.

The Raaas (2018)

Since The Raaas enchanted and enthralled Nagpur with its quality garba in its first year in 2018, the demand for encore has been reverberating the city. To cater to the huge public demand, the organisers of the king of garbas have decided to continue The Raaas next year on. Like its first year, The Raaas Garba will be presented to Nagpur in association with Nation Next in 2023. Mahesh Kukreja, the key organiser said, “Because of some reasons, we, earlier, thought of giving the event a break.”

He added, “Then COVID-19 struck the world. Now we plan to continue it from next year onwards. While I express my gratitude to Nagpurians to make the event a huge hit, I request the city’s garba revellers to not get fooled as a few garbas are falsely claiming to be The Raaas. We’ll be back next year for sure!”
