Cops arrest 4 linked with goons mob lynching in Shanti Nagar| Nagpur

Some local residents of Narayanpeth in Shanti Nagar, on Sunday, had brutally murdered a 24-year-old goon, identified as Vijay Vaman Waghdhare alias Viju, enraged by his constant harassment and extortion activities.

Linked to the incident, Shanti Nagar Police, on Monday, arrested four men- Sunil Kunjilal Harode (27), Sagar Karore (27), Yash alias Bunty Harode (20) and Sumit Mohan Dere (29) for their alleged role behind murdering the history sheeter.

Sunil and Sumit reportedly have previous records of murders as well.

Waghdhare was a resident of Lodhipura in Prem Nagar.

According to the police, the four accused had publicly murdered Waghdhare based on old enmity, thrashing him with blocks of cement, rocks, knife and sword near Prem Nagar, at around 7:35 pm on Sunday.

Prior to the murder, Waghdhare had also gotten into a heated argument with the accused.

Based on a complaint filed by Yash Jitendra Palandurkar, a case has been registered against the accused at Shanti Nagar Police Station, under Sections 302 (Punishment for murder), 323 (Punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 143 (Punishment for being a member of an unlawful assembly), 147 (Punishment for rioting), 148 (Rioting, armed with deadly weapon), 149 (Every member of unlawful assembly guilty of offence committed in prosecution of common object) and 114 (Abettor present when offence is committed) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

All the accused were arrested and remanded in police custody.

Since The Raaas enchanted and enthralled Nagpur with its quality garba in its first year in 2018, the demand for encore has been reverberating the city. To cater to the huge public demand, the organisers of the king of garbas have decided to continue The Raaas next year on. Like its first year, The Raaas Garba will be presented to Nagpur in association with Nation Next in 2023. Mahesh Kukreja, the key organiser said, “Because of some reasons, we, earlier, thought of giving the event a break.”

He added, “Then COVID-19 struck the world. Now we plan to continue it from next year onwards. While I express my gratitude to Nagpurians to make the event a huge hit, I request the city’s garba revellers to not get fooled as a few garbas are falsely claiming to be The Raaas. We’ll be back next year for sure!”
