Late Rajya Sabha MP Raghunath Mohapatra

Tragedy struck the family of Rajya Sabha MP Raghunath Mohapatra three times in a month as the MP and his two sons died because of COVID-19 within a span of just 12 days in Bhubaneswar.

While Mohapatra died of COVID on May 9 at the age of 78 at AIIMS in Bhubaneshwar, his eldest son Josabanta (52) died on Thursday, followed by his seond son Prashant (48) on Wednesday. While Prashant was a former Ranji player, BCCI referee and a coach, his brother Josabanta was involved in the family business of stone carving.

Mohapatra, who was a recipient of Padma Vibhushan, had five children – Three sons and two daughters. Sadly, his youngest son Sushant died of heart attack six years ago. As per reports, Mohapatra’s wife Rajani Mohapatra (70), who has recovered from the infection, was inconsolable after three successive deaths in the family.

KK passed away at the age of 53 in Kolkata

Renowned playback singer Krishnakumar Kunnath, popularly known as KK, passed away at the age of 53 in Kolkata. The singer performed at Nazul Mancha auditorium on Tuesday (May 31). He went to his hotel after his performance and collapsed. He was rushed to Calcutta Medical Research Institute (CMRI) at around 10:30 pm, where he was declared brought dead by the doctors. The exact cause of his death is unknown as of now.

Shane Warne

Shane Warne, the legendary Australian spinner, passed away at the age of 52 after suffering a suspected heart attack, his management has confirmed.

A statement by the managenent read: “Shane was found unresponsive in his villa and despite the best efforts of medical staff, he could not be revived. The family requests privacy at this time and will provide further details in due course.”
