Nagpur: After receiving COVID-19 infected mother’s dead body from hospital, son finds her alive, sitting in ward
The dead body given by IGPA Hospital and Research Center to the relatives of the COVID-19 positive woman
In a major faux pax, a private COVID-19 hospital in Nagpur on Saturday morning handed over the dead body of a patient to the son of an alive woman while telling him that his mother died of COVID-19. Afterwards, the son of the woman found her alive sitting in the ward where she was admitted a day before.
Speaking about the incident, Ravi Zarkar, a friend of the woman’s son told Nation Next, My friend Amit (name changed) got his 63-year-old COVID-19 positive mother admitted at IGPA Hospital and Research Center situated at Wardha Road on Friday (April 9).
The dead certificate issued by IGPA Hospital and Research Center to the relatives of the COVID-19 positive woman?
On Saturday (April 10) morning, Amit got a call from the hospital saying that his mother had passed away at 8 am. When we reached the hospital, a doctor told us that Amit’s mother died of a heart attack resulting from a blood clot because of COVID-19. We then completed the formalities after which we were given a death certificate of Amit’s mother.
Thereafter, Ravi and Amit were shown a dead body with face covered. Ravi added, We insisted on seeing the face of Amit’s mother. When the cover was removed after much deliberation from hospital staff, we saw the face and were shocked to see that it was not Amit’s mother.
It was a dead body of some other woman. When we enquired about Amit’s mother at the hospital, nobody seemed to have a clue about her. Amit, then, ran towards the ward where she was admitted. When he reached the ward, he saw his mother sitting on a bed.
Ravi and Amit then got Amit’s mother discharged from the hospital and have admitted to another hospital for her treatment.
