Key-maker makes duplicate keys, robs man of Rs 3 lakh in Nagpur

In a bizarre incident, a locksmith allegedly broke into the house of a 35-year-old man named Kisan Fakirchand Matia, on Monday, and stole Rs 3 lakh from his cupboard with a duplicate key near Gittikhadan, Nagpur. 

The accused, identified as Harjinder Singh, is a resident of Kamptee. On Sunday, Matia, a resident of 164 A, Swami colony, Akar nagar near Gittikhadan, approached the key-maker, who was walking outside his residence, and asked him to make a lock for his cupboard. 

After doing half of the work, Singh and his brother told Matia that they would return next day to resume making the unfinished lock. 

The next day, at around 12:30 to 2:30 pm, the accused duo entered into the house saying that they had come to finish making the cupboards lock and stole rupees three lakh from the cupboard with a duplicate key. 

Based on Matias complaint, a case of theft was registered against the accused duo at Gittikhadan Police Station, under Section 380 (Theft in dwelling house, etc.) of Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Since The Raaas enchanted and enthralled Nagpur with its quality garba in its first year in 2018, the demand for encore has been reverberating the city. To cater to the huge public demand, the organisers of the king of garbas have decided to continue The Raaas next year on. Like its first year, The Raaas Garba will be presented to Nagpur in association with Nation Next in 2023. Mahesh Kukreja, the key organiser said, “Because of some reasons, we, earlier, thought of giving the event a break.”

He added, “Then COVID-19 struck the world. Now we plan to continue it from next year onwards. While I express my gratitude to Nagpurians to make the event a huge hit, I request the city’s garba revellers to not get fooled as a few garbas are falsely claiming to be The Raaas. We’ll be back next year for sure!”
