Roses, placards: Nagpur’s Tata Parsi Girls School protests in ‘Munna Bhai style’ against eve teasing
Tired of the ‘regular nuisance,’ in a bid to combat incidents like eve teasing, molestation and verbal abuse, Nagpur’s JN Tata Parsi Girls School conducted a peaceful protest with roses and placards like the one in Sanjay Dutt starrer super hit movie Lage Raho Munna Bhai. The protest was carried out in front of the school and in the vicinity of Gandhisagar Lake to fight against incident eve teasing, which has allegedly taken place with their students. The protest was also conducted to urge NMC to prevent the Shaniwar Bazar (Saturday Market) also known as Chor Bazaar vendors to run their businesses at least 100 metres away from the school premise.
Speaking to Nation Next Dr Thrity Dinshaw Patel (Managing Trustee JN Tata Parsi) said, Our school has conducted this program to combat eve teasing and molestation faced by our children through some of the miscreants allegedly from the market (Shaniwar Bazaar). Few of these miscreants have even abused our girls. We had earlier lodged a complaint at the police station to take action in this matter but despite their action, the miscreants would again continue their wrongdoings. We?ll be obliged if our Guardian Minister Dr Nitin Raut inquires about the matter and help us solving the problem.
While addressing the media persons PI (Police Inspector at Ganeshpeth Police Station) SS Kumre said, Every Saturday, when the market is open, our police personnel take care that the vendors don’t create any ruckus in the area. We haven’t received any complaints of molestation. However, we assure the school that our patrolling vehicles will keep a watch on all the vendors as well as eve teasers.
Brushing aside the statement made by the police that no complaints of molestation so far have been lodged, the Principal claimed that they had earlier filed a complaint about the same at the police station but no strict measures were taken.
Slightly worried and concerned by the incidents that took place in the past, few students from the school spoke to Nation Next to narrate their ordeal: After conducting such a peaceful protest by our school authority, we’re quite certain that the problems of eve teasing and molestation that we have faced in the past will not be repeated in the future said student Muskan Dave.
?Boys often roam in the vicinity of our school (some of which are from the market); they even dare to tease and touch us! I myself have faced one such incident when a boy came and made obscene jokes at me. As I responded, he abused and subsequently left the spot said Hasika Rajdeo.

“राहुलजी गांधीने सम्पूर्ण देश के ओबीसी समाज की माफ़ी मांगनी चाहिए. कांग्रेस को आने वाले चुनावों में खामियाजा भुगतने से बचने लिए और ओबीसी का वोट बैंक बीजेपी के तरफ जाने से रोकने के लिए राहुलजी को निश्चित रूप से माफ़ी मांगनी चाहिए.
२०१९ में अगर गलती से कुछ शब्द उनसे निकल गए होंगे, तो उसको देखते हुए एक बहोत बड़ा ओबीसी समाज अगर नाराज है, तो निश्चित तौर पर राहुलजी माफ़ी मांगे, यही हमारी मांग रहेगी. किसी समाज को चोर कहना ये निश्चित तौर पर गंवारा नहीं है. इसके पहले भी राहुलजी ने विभिन्न दो मसलों में माफ़ी मांगी है. और यहाँ पर तो ओबीसी समाज की बात है. राहुलजी अगर माफ़ी मांगते है तो उनकी प्रतिमा और उभर कर आयेगी. और ये समुचा जो प्रकरण चल रहा है, ये शांत होने में कांग्रेस को मदद होगी.
कांग्रेस के अन्य नेताओं का कहना है की, माफ़ी मांगने का प्रश्न ही नहीं उठता. यह भावनओं का प्रश्न है. एक व्यक्ति यहाँ पर दुखी नहीं हो रहा है, पूरा ओबीसी समाज अपने आप को दुखी महसूस कर रहा है. बड़े दिल से राहुलजी गाँधी माफ़ी मांगे, यही हमारे जैसे नेताओं की मांग है. चौकीदार चोर है के सन्दर्भ में भी हमारे वरिष्ठ नेताओं ने कांग्रेस वर्किंग कमिटी (सीडब्ल्यूसी) में नाराजगी जताई थी. उसमे भी कोर्ट में राहुलजी को माफ़ी मांगनी पड़ी थी.
तब तक २०१९ में कांग्रेस खामियाजा भुगत चूका था. अभी कुछ ही दिनों में कर्नाटक और फिर दिसम्बर में मध्य प्रदेश, छत्तीसगढ़, राजस्थान के चुनाव है, जहाँ पर ओबीसी समाज बहोत बड़े पैमाने पर है. आनेवाले २०२४ में लोकसभा के भी चुनाव है. इन सभी चुनावों में ओबीसी समाज को अपनाने की कांग्रेस को जरुरत है. और ऐसे में अगर ओबीसी समाज कहीं किसी गलत निकले हुए शब्द से दुखी है तो निश्चित तौर पर माफ़ी मांगने से ओबीसी समाज संभल जायेगा, समझ जायेगा और फिर से एक बार पूरी जोश के साथ कांग्रेस के साथ बना रहेगा. मेरे पिता श्री. रणजीतबाबु देशमुख कांग्रेस कमिटी के दो बार अध्यक्ष और मंत्री रह चुके है.
मैं विधायक रह चूका हूं. कांग्रेस की टिकट पर देवेन्द्र फडनविस के खिलाफ भी चुनाव लड़ चूका हूं. मेरे इस वक्तव्य से कांग्रेस पार्टी हायकमांड नाराज नहीं होगी, ये मुझे उम्मीद है. ओबीसी समाज नाराज नहीं होना चाहिए, ये महत्वपूर्ण है. फडनविसजी मुख्यमंत्री थे तब मैं उनके खिलाफ चुनाव में खड़ा हुआ था. उस वक़्त मुझे प्रचार के लिए सिर्फ १०-११ दिन मिले थे. उस वक़्त भारी पैमाने पर हमारा ओबीसी समाज हमारे साथ, कांग्रेस के साथ, खड़ा हुआ था. और यही हम चाहते है की, वो कांग्रेस से जुड़ा रहें.
अगर कहीं गलती से कुछ शब्द चुनाव के प्रचार दरम्यान निकल गए हो, कोई जुमलासा निकल गया हो, तो उसे वापस लेने में और उसे रिग्रेट करने में और उसके लिए माफ़ी मांगने में न कोई अंदेशा या संदेशा रहना चाहिए. राहुलजी बड़े दिल के इंसान है, अच्छे नियत के इंसान है. उन्होंने खुले दिल से ओबीसी समाज को अपनाना चाहिये. ओबीसी समाज की भावना को अगर ठेस पहुंची है, तो माफ़ी मांगकर उनको समझाकर अपने साथ रखने की, कांग्रेस के साथ रखने की पहल निश्चित तौर पर करनी चाहिए.
हमारे प्रदेशाध्यक्ष भी ओबीसी समाज के है और वो विदर्भ के ही है. वो भी इसी भावनाओं से निश्चित रूप से जुड़े होंगे. हमारी यही कोशिश है की कांग्रेस पार्टी आलाकमान तक ये हमारी, कांग्रेस नेताओं की, कार्यकर्ताओं की और ओबीसी समाज की भावनाएं पहुंचे. मुझे यही अपेक्षा रहेंगी की, राहुलजी जैसे सुलझे हुए व्यक्ति जल्द से जल्द माफ़ी मांगकर ओबीसी समाज को फिर से एक बार जोड़ने में सफल होंगे. माफ़ी मांगकर यह विषय यही पर समाप्त करना चाहिए,” ऐसी प्रतिक्रिया महाराष्ट्र प्रदेश कांग्रेस कमिटी के महासचिव एवं महाराष्ट्र के संसदीय समिती के सदस्य तथा नागपुर (महाराष्ट्र) के पुर्व विधायक आशीषराव र. देशमुख ने नागपुर में व्यक्त की. फिलहाल ओबीसी समाज के प्रकरण को देखते हुए उन्होंने एक वार्तालाप में यह बात कही.

Shaunak Badole in Open Group and Divyanshi Khandelwal in Women Group annexed the title of Nagpur District Open and Women Selection Chess Championship organised by Chess Association Nagpur in association with GH Raisoni Sports and Cultural Foundation and Kalpana Prakash Welfare Foundation on 26th March 2023 in Nagpur.
Shaunak true to his top seeding scored 6.5 points out of seven rounds and emerged winner. Chandrashekhar Sable with a last round draw with Shaunak stood second with 6 points to his credit. Nilay Kulkarni, Sharma Sai and Ayush Ramteke scored 5.5 points and were adjudged 3rd to 5th in the final list.
In the women group, Divyanshi Khandelwal who was seeded fifth at the start of championship had a memorable event scoring all 5 points out of 5 rounds and won the championship. In her march to the top, she scored over the Top Seed Aparneeta Jagtap and Third seed Tijan Gawar. Aparneeta Jagtap and Tijan Gawar with their only loss to Divyanshi were placed second and third respectively with 4 points. Anvi Hirde and Shanaya Shelkar scored 3.5 points and were placed 4th and 5th in the final merit list.
Shaunak Badole, Chandrashekhar Sable, Nilay Kulkarni and Sharma Sai shall represent Nagpur District in Open Group and Divyanshi Khandelwal, Aparneeta Jagtap, Tijan Gawar, Anvi Hirde and Shanaya Shelkar shall represent Nagpur District in Women Group in the Maharashtra State Open and Women Chess Championship to be held later this year.
Prizes were distributed at the hands of Shri Yashwant Shamkuwar, Ex. Secretary of Vidarbha Chess Association who is a Senior player himself. Shri Bhushsan Shriwas, Secretary, Chess Association Nagpur and Kalpana Prakash Welfare Foundation and Chief Arbiter IA Deepak Chavan were present on the dais. Top 10 Finishers in Open and Women Group got the Trophies and Medals. Medals were also given to Top player in Under 15,13,11,09,07 Category.
Chief Arbiter IA Deepak Chavan, successfully conducted the event assisted by SNA Sagar Sakhare, SNA Sham Agrawal, SNA Prayas Ambade and Prathamesh Machave.

Members of Nagpur Youth Congress staged protest against former Congress MP Rahul Gandhi’s disqualification as Member of Parliament from Lok Sabha amid ‘Modi surname’ remark. The protest was held at Chhatrapati Square in the city on Saturday morning where members raised slogans hailing Gandhi.
When we spoke to Secretary, Maharashtra Youth Congress, Abhishek Dhawad, who led the protest, said, “It is an orchestrated attack on the democracy. And, BJP’s attempt to cripple the voice of Opposition by expunging Rahul Gandhiji is a testimony to the fact that the accusations hold weight and thus the BJP government needs to come clean.”
When asked about Gandhi’s accusation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi siding with business tycoon Gautam Adani, Dhawad quipped, “Adani’s meteoric rise couldn’t have happened without the former being hand in glove with the Centre. It’s the biggest scam in the history of mankind!”
Senior Congress leader and former Corporator Praful Gudadhe Patil, Nagpur District Secretary Mangesh Kamone, etc., marked their presence during the protest.
Gandhi, on Friday, was disqualified as Lok Sabha MP, a day after a Surat Court convicted him in a defamation case regarding Modi surname remark. The notification disqualifying the Wayanad MP was issued hours after Gandhi attended the morning session of Lok Sabha.
Gandhi, in 2019, had remarked, “Why all the thieves, be it Nirav Modi, Lalit Modi or Narendra Modi have Modi in their names.”
