What is Mucormycosis or Black Fungus Here’s list of some do’s and don’ts released by Health Ministry
Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan, on Friday, shared details of Mucormycosis or Black Fungus, which has been detected among several COVID-19 patients in Maharashtra.
He said, Awareness and early diagnosis can help curb the spread of the fungal infection.
What is Mucormycosis
Mucormycosis is a fungal infection mainly affecting people with medical health problems that reduces their ability to fight environmental pathogens.
How can a patient contract the infection?
People having co-morbidities, variconazole therapy, uncontrolled diabetes mellitus, immunosuppression by steroids or prolonged ICU stay can get predisposed to the fungal infection.
What are possible symptoms of Mucormycosis
Pain or redness around the eyes, fever, headache, coughing, shortness of breath, bloody vomit and altered mental status are possible symptoms of the infection.
The minister tweeted, Don’t consider all cases of blocked nose as cases of bacterial sinusitis, especially in the cases of immunosuppression and/ or COVID-19 patients on immunomodulators.

49-yr-old man dies while playing badminton in Nagpur

A 49-year-old man in Nagpur died while playing badminton in Pachpaoli area on Monday morning at around 6:45 am. The deceased, identified as Gunnu Dharma Lohara, was a resident of Yadav Nagar who was playing badminton with his friend.
He was rushed to Central Railway Hospital in an unconscious state and was declared dead by the doctors there.

Nagpur declared ‘no drone zone’ on March 20, 21
Ahead of G20 meet in Nagpur, Assistant Commissioner of Police Ashwati Dorje, on Wednesday, said the city has been declared ‘No Drone Zone’ on March 20, 21. The development came in as a security measure for the large number of foreign delegates that will be in the city for the summit.
Any aerial objects including use of parachutes have also been banned.
