A chaotic and violent scene unfolded at the US Capitol on Wednesday as supporters of President Donald Trump swarmed the building and disrupted electoral count breaching the security policy by breaking and entering the premises.

Rioters overpowered the police and broke into the Capitol to protest as a joint session of Congress convened to certify President-elect Joe Biden’s win. Multiple officers have been reported injured during the scuffle.

With increasing violent attacks at the Capitol, US National Guard was deployed to aid Capitol Police in regaining control at the building. 1,100 National Guard troops were mobilising to reclaim the seat of the US government.

Meanwhile, Washington DC Mayor Muriel Bowser, announced a curfew from 6 pm Wednesday EST, adding the behaviour of Trump supporters to be shameful, unpatriotic and above all is unlawful.

More than an hour after protesters breached a security cordon, President Donald Trump urged his supporters to be ?peaceful? and tweeted, Please support our Capitol Police and Law Enforcement.

They are truly on the side of our Country. Stay peaceful!, he added.

Citing breach of its civic integrity rules policy, Twitter on Wednesday threatened to permanently ban President Trump from the social media platform, ordering him to remove three rule-breaking tweets.

The platform then locked his account for 12 hours and asked him to delete three of his tweets, including a short video, which is preferably the reason of the riots, said the Twitter safety team.

Post which, Trump deleted those posts.

Facebook and Instagram said that Trumps pages will be blocked for 24 hours, reported Associated Press. Guy Rosen, Facebook’s Vice President of Integrity, said, This is an emergency situation and we are taking appropriate emergency measures, including removing President Trumps video.

In the video, that has now been deleted from all social media platforms, Trump expressed empathy for the mob which violently marched inside the US Capitol, clashed with police and forced lawmakers to go into hiding.

These are the things and events that happen when a sacred landslide election victory is so unceremoniously & viciously stripped away from great patriots who have been badly & unfairly treated for so long, Trump said in the message. He added, Go home with love & in peace. Remember this day forever!
