Taliban claims ‘complete capture of Panjshir Valley’ in Afghanistan
Taliban Spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid, on Monday, said that the Taliban has completely captured the Panjshir Valley in Afghanistan. This statement came a week after the US pulled out its troops from the war-torn country.
Mujahids statement came three days after the National Resistance Front (anti-Taliban forces in Panjshir Valley, pledged to carry on fighting) said that Taliban claiming control over Panjshir was a lie.
Panjshir was the last province of Afghanistan, which was saved from the Taliban. Anti- Talibani forces and citizens loyal to acting President Amrullah Saleha united in Panjshir to fight against Taliban soon after President Ashraf Ghani fled Afghanistan.
In an official statement, the Taliban Spokesperson wrote, Panjshir province the last nest of mercenary enemy was completely conquered. We give the honourable people of Panjshir reassurance that they will not be discriminated in any way, they are all our brothers, we will work together for Afghanistan.
As per latest reports, Zabihullah Mujahid would soon hold a press conference at the media centre in Panjashir to address the capture of the valley along with latest political developments.
Reportedly, acting President Amrullah Saleh was evacuated by a helicopter before the Taliban could get a hold of him. Talibanis hoisted their flag on Panjshir Governors house claiming their control over the valley.
