Former Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan (78) passed away on Thursday, April 22, wrote Congress MP Shashi Tharoor on his twitter handle.

COVID-19 positive Tharoor, on Thursday night, wrote, “Saddened to learn of the passing of former LokSabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan. I remember many positive interactions with her, including when she &the late Sushma Swaraj asked me to lead a Parliamentary delegation to BRICS in Moscow. My condolences to her family &prayers: OmShanti!”

Mahajan had contracted COVID-19 few days back and had recently tested negative. Soon after incorrect reports of her demise did rounds, General Secretary of BJP Kailash Vijayvargiya said Mahajan was hale and hearty. Subsequently, Tharoor deleted his tweet.


BJP MLA from Indore Ramesh Mendola also clarified that Mahajan was doing fine.

KK passed away at the age of 53 in Kolkata

Renowned playback singer Krishnakumar Kunnath, popularly known as KK, passed away at the age of 53 in Kolkata. The singer performed at Nazul Mancha auditorium on Tuesday (May 31). He went to his hotel after his performance and collapsed. He was rushed to Calcutta Medical Research Institute (CMRI) at around 10:30 pm, where he was declared brought dead by the doctors. The exact cause of his death is unknown as of now.

Shane Warne, the legendary Australian spinner, passed away at the age of 52 after suffering a suspected heart attack, his management has confirmed.

A statement by the managenent read: “Shane was found unresponsive in his villa and despite the best efforts of medical staff, he could not be revived. The family requests privacy at this time and will provide further details in due course.”
