To fight COVID-19, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan on Monday provided 25,000 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kits to the frontline medical staff in Maharashtra. Minister of Public Health and Family Welfare of Maharashtra Rajesh Tope said, Many thanks Mr Shah Rukh Khan for your kind contribution of 25,000 PPE kits. This will go a long way in supporting our fight against COVID19 & protecting our frontline medical care team @iamsrk @MeerFoundation @CMOMaharashtra.
Replying to the minister, Shah Rukh on Twitter said, Thank you sir for all your help to source the kits. We are all together in this endeavour to protect ourselves and humanity. Glad to be of service. May your family and team be safe and healthy.
A week ago, Khan’s NGO Meer Foundation had announced that it would work with the Maharashtra and West Bengal governments for the supply of 50,000 PPE for the healthcare professionals.
Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) through its official Twitter handle had thanked the superstar and his wife Gauri Khan for the gesture. BMC wrote, Stronger together. We thank Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan for offering their 4-storey personal office space to help expand our quarantine capacity equipped with essentials for quarantined children, women and elderly. Indeed a thoughtful and timely gesture!
Khan few days back through his companies ? Kolkata Knight Riders, Red Chillies Entertainment, Meer Foundation and Red Chillies VFX ?contributed to a number of relief funds, including the Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations (PM-Cares) fund and Maharashtra chief minister’s relief fund, among others.
He?d said, Given the enormity of the task, my team and I discussed ways to contribute in our own modest way. We have come up with a series of initiatives, which we hope will make a small difference.
He further said, The KKR franchise and his NGO Meer Foundation will work with the Maharashtra and West Bengal governments for the supply of 50,000 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the healthcare professionals, whom Shah Rukh called the real heroes of the battle against COVID-19. Khan’s NGO Meer Foundation has also tied up with Ek Saath ? The Earth to provide daily food requirements to over 5,500 families for at least a month in Mumbai.
Meer Foundation also joined hands with Working People’s Charter to provide basic essentials and grocery items for at least a month to over 2,500 daily wageworkers in Delhi. It will also provide support to 100 acid attack victims in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, and Uttarakhand.
The superstar said a kitchen will also be set up to send out 2,000 freshly cooked meals everyday to help households and hospitals whose daily needs aren’t being fulfilled. Moreover, in association with Roti Foundation, Khan’s NGO will provide three lakh meal kits to 10,000 underprivileged people and daily wage labourers daily for at least a month in Mumbai.
Comedian Raju Shrivastava suffers heart attack in gym, rushed to AIIMS
Popular stand-up comedian and actor Raju Shrivastava (59) suffered a mild heart attack on Wednesday morning while working out at a gym in New Delhi. His team confirmed the same while saying, “Raju sir suffered a mild heart attack while working out. He is admitted to AIIMS, but he is doing fine. He is conscious.”
Reportedly Raju felt uncomfortable and collapsed while running on a treadmill in a South Delhi gym. He was immediately rushed to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in the capital.
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra tests COVID positive second time in 2 months
Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday morning – for the second time in almost two months. She took to her twitter account to share the same.

Earlier, the Congress leader had tested positive for the virus on June 3 this year when she’d written, “I’ve tested positive for COVID-19 with mild symptoms. Following all the protocols, I have quarantined myself at home. I would request those who came in contact with me to take all necessary precautions.”
Contaminated water gushes in 400 homes as nullah overflows in Nagpur’s Besa
Residents in several parts of Nagpur woke up to flooded streets and homes after heavy rains for past few days. When we spoke to a resident named Abhiram Shroti, a resident of Besa, who’s flooded house can be seen in the pictures above, he told Nation Next, “This is not the first time we have faced this. Even in 2018 we faced a similar issue in Besa. All the contaminated water seeps in the house from a nearby nullah. Around 400 families around me are facing the same issue. We tried talking to NMC officials and collector but in vain!”
