SAD Chief Sukhbir Singh, Harsimrat Badal, others arrested amid protest against farm laws
Chief of Shiromani Akali Dal Sukhbir Singh Badal, his wife former Union Minister Harsimrat Badal and other 15 leaders of the Akali Dal were arrested on 17/9/21 amid farm laws protest, Delhi.
The Akali staged a huge protest in Delhi against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Central government to mark one year of the controversial farm laws, which came into effect on 17/9/20.
Agitators began their protest from Rakab Ganj Sahib Gurudwara and marched towards the Sansad Bhawan in Delhi. On the way, they clashed with the Delhi Police, who had heavily barricaded the areas near Parliament building.
The Delhi Police amid this protest arrested SADs top leaders present at the scene. According to the Delhi Police, detained leaders were taken to Sansad Marg Police Station.
Led by Sukhbir Badal and Harsimrat Badal, the protest included farmers from Punjab along with SAD leaders. They raised slogans against PM Modi, Central government and the three farm laws.

An Indian student was killed during shelling in Ukraines Kharkiv on Tuesday morning, Ministry of External Affairs informed in the afternoon. The Ministry tweeted: ?With profound sorrow we confirm that an Indian student lost his life in shelling in Kharkiv this morning. The Ministry is in touch with his family. We convey our deepest condolences to the family.
In Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second largest city, videos showed extensive damage from the Russian military assault. One video showed the city’s largest government building blown up.
While the student is yet to be named by the MEA, sources in the Karnataka state government told The Quint that he had been identified as Naveen Shekhrappa, from Haveri district, Karnataka. The 21-year-old was a student of medicine at Kharkiv National Medical University.
The News Minute reported that Shekhrappa was standing in a queue at a supermarket in Kharkiv to buy food when Russian shelling began.
