“Nagpur has always been a special venue for me”, tweets Sachin Tendulkar ahead of his Nagpur visit today

Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar in his tweet wrote that he couldn’t wait to visit to Nagpur for the closing ceremony of the Khasdar Krida Mahotsav. Tendulkar would be visiting Nagpur today evening (Saturday, 26 May) to grace the concluding ceremony of Khasdar Krida Mahotsav. Sachin wrote, Nagpur has always been a special venue for me. Can’t wait to see you all for the closing ceremony of the Khasdar Krida Mahotsav. A fantastic initiative, providing sportspersons and athletes with a platform to showcase their talent. ?#KheloNagpurKhelo ?#SportsPLAYINGNation.
The event, which was inaugurated by Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar, would take place at Yeshwant Stadium in Dhantoli from 5:30 pm onwards. Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari along Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule and Mayor of Nagpur Nanda Jichkar would also be present at the concluding ceremony today.

This is the first edition of Khasdar Krida Mahotsav, which is the brainchild of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari. Khasdar Krida Mahotsav consisted of 20 games that were played by 540 teams. The event saw participation from around 25,000 sports persons. The games played during the festival included: Table Tennis, Football, Kho-Kho, Wrestling, Cycling, Body Building, Walkathon, Basketball, Carrom, Skating, Athletics, Swimming, Volleyball, Badminton, Hockey, Chess, Kabaddi, Lawn Tennis and Tennis ball cricket for men and women. Collective prize money of Rs 62, 82,200 along with 288 trophies and 2,285 medals would be distributed among the winners and runners-up.

Active COVID cases near 30,000 mark in Nagpur
Nagpur’s COVID-19 tally, on Tuesday, January 25, reached 5,43,064 (till 5 pm) as 4028 (972 from rural and 2956 from city) new cases were recorded in a single day.
Also, active COVID cases, as on Tuesday, could be seen inching closer to 30,000 mark in the district.
