Ready to get COVID-19 vaccines from India after talks: Kazakhstan Ambassador

Two days after the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) approved the emergency use of two COVID-19 vaccines in the country, Ambassador of Kazakhstan in India Yerlan Alimbayev said that Kazakhstan would discuss the matter with India, as it was ready to procure the vaccines.

Kazakhstan is also producing three vaccines, which are on Phase II and Phase III trials. There has been no official dialogue with India, but we are aware that India has two vaccines- Covaxin and Covishield, which is a very good thing, Alimbayev said.

There haves been no such talks currently between the two nations, but we are ready to talk for ordering India’s vaccine after the approval of both countries, he added.

Meanwhile, CEO and owner of Serum Institute of India (SII) Adar Poonawalla released a statement clarifying that SII and Bharat Biotech jointly communicated their pledge towards a smooth roll out of COVID-19 vaccines to India and the World.

I would like to clarify two matters; as there is confusion in the public domain, exports of vaccines are permitted to all countries and a joint public statement clearing up any recent miscommunication with regards to Bharat Biotech will be made, he tweeted.

Attaching the joint statement of Bharat Biotech and SII, Poonawalla further tweeted, This should clarify any miscommunication. We are all united in the fight against this pandemic.
