In a first, Home Minister of Maharashtra Anil Deshmukh came up with a unique idea of identifying criminals and history-sheeters in Nagpur. Deshmukh said that citizens in Nagpur without disclosing their identity could now share names of goons in their areas.
In a six-day drive, Deshmukh said a Drop Box would be installed outside the minister’s official residence ? cottage number 11 ? at Ravi Bhavan. People could drop in the names, documents and details of goons of their areas between 3-4 pm from August 20 to August 25.
Deshmukh, who claimed the drive was initiated to make the city crime free, said the concept of Drop Box was finalised, as there were chances of people’s identity being revealed if they approached the police station for the same.
Officer on Special Duty to the Home Minister Dr Sanjay Dhote would be dealing with the same.
