In a bizarre incident, a 31-year-old man was grievously injured after another man slashed the victim’s cheek with a blade after the two got into a fight over a matchstick for lighting a cigarette on Saturday at around 11 pm near Chhaoni Police Chauki in Nagpur.

As per the police, the victim Amir Bashir Sheikh (31), a resident of Plot no 56, Minimata Nagar, Nagpur, had visited Mishra Pan Shop near Chhaoni Police Chauki in Sadar for smoking a cigarette on Saturday. After discovering that the shop was closed, he asked the accused Shubham Mandahre, who was standing nearby, for a matchstick to light his cigarette.

However, after Mandhare denied of having a matchstick, the duo got into an argument, following which, Mandhare slashed the victim’s cheek with a blade, which was fixed on his fingernail. Following the incident, Sheikh filed a complaint against Mandhare at Sadar Police Station. A case of assault has been registered against the accused under Section 326 (Voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means) of Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The Raaas (2018)

Since The Raaas enchanted and enthralled Nagpur with its quality garba in its first year in 2018, the demand for encore has been reverberating the city. To cater to the huge public demand, the organisers of the king of garbas have decided to continue The Raaas next year on. Like its first year, The Raaas Garba will be presented to Nagpur in association with Nation Next in 2023. Mahesh Kukreja, the key organiser said, “Because of some reasons, we, earlier, thought of giving the event a break.”

He added, “Then COVID-19 struck the world. Now we plan to continue it from next year onwards. While I express my gratitude to Nagpurians to make the event a huge hit, I request the city’s garba revellers to not get fooled as a few garbas are falsely claiming to be The Raaas. We’ll be back next year for sure!”
