Nagpur ranks 3rd in 10 districts that account for 50% of total active caseload in India
With consistent spike in daily cases, Nagpur became one of the top 10 COVID-19-affected districts in the country. Nagpur district, with 7.71%, ranked third in the country among 10 districts to account for 50% of total active caseload of country as per Government of India.
The other cities in chronological order are: Pune (10.75%), Mumbai (8.75%), Nagpur (7.71%), Thane (6.38%), Nashik (5.66%), Bengaluru Urban (3.73%), Aurangabad (2%), Delhi (1.82%), Ahmednagar (1.74%) and Nanded (1.67%).
Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba chaired a high-level review meeting on Saturday with Chief Secretaries, DG Police and Health Secretaries of all States/Union Territories (UT), with focus on all States/UTs that have been reporting extreme high-rise in daily cases and daily mortality because of COVID-19 in the last two weeks.
These states/UTs, categorised as states of grave concern, were advised to take up immediate and effective measures to ensure containment of active cases and daily deaths through ? Enhanced Testing, Strict Containment, Prompt Contact Tracing and Enforcement of COVID Appropriate Behaviour and adherence of the standard Clinical Management Protocol shared earlier with all States and UTs.
It was emphasised that the Centre shall continue to provide all resources and support to all States and UTs for public health measures and clinical management for fighting COVID-19.

Active COVID cases near 30,000 mark in Nagpur
Nagpur’s COVID-19 tally, on Tuesday, January 25, reached 5,43,064 (till 5 pm) as 4028 (972 from rural and 2956 from city) new cases were recorded in a single day.
Also, active COVID cases, as on Tuesday, could be seen inching closer to 30,000 mark in the district.

Nagpur’s COVID-19 tally on Sunday, January 2 reached 4,94,193 (till 5 pm) as 90 (73 city, nine rural) more people tested positive for the virus.

Nagpur registered 88 (81 from city) new COVID-19 positive cases on Friday, December 31. Nagpur previously had recorded as minimum as six cases on December 24.
