Nagpur pediatricians organise a unique fancy dress show to raise awareness about Cerebral Palsy

Nagpur Pediatric Therapists Association (NPTA), with an intention to make aware people about cerebral palsy and also to show what cerebral palsy affected kids can achieve, organised a unique fancy dress show at Chitnavis Centre, Nagpur. At the event, children suffering from cerebral palsy dressed up beautifully to take part in a specially organised fancy dress show for them. The event was supported by Nation Next, city NGO Zero Gravity, Rang Rasiya theatre group and a few other institutions.

The chief guests at the event were Dr Pravin Dahake, Dr Viraj Shingade, Anju Bhutani (Principal, BVM, Civil Lines) and city businessman Ashok Kale, who were welcomed by Dr Minakshi Vankhede (President, NPTA) and other members of the association with a lot of warmth. After the green balloons, which is a colour for cerebral palsy, were released in the air, the event officially began and the guests took to the stage to speak to the audience present.

Ashok Kale, who himself has been suffering from cerebral palsy since childhood, during his address shared his experiences suffering from the disorder. He appealed the parents and doctors to understand that the kids might not want to engage themselves in the exercises they are asked to do but they may not be able to say it. He suggested to engage kids in natural exercises.

Thereafter, city musician Darryl Grant took to the stage to entertain the audience with his songs. During his performance kids dressed as Spiderman, Savitribai Phule, Subhash Chandra Bose, Chhtrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Rani of Jhansi, etc., came on the stage one by one to participate in the show. Needless, to say they all looked super cute and adorable. Some of them even recited the famous lines of the characters they were portraying.

After the fancy dress show, Rang Rasiya theatre group staged a play busting the myth that people suffering from cerebral palsy cannot succeed in life as other people do. The play not only got a huge applause but also brought smiles on the faces of the people present.
