More than 10,000 Nagpurians run for safety at Nagpur City Police Marathon 2017

The first ever Nagpur City Police Marathon 2017 with the theme ? Let’s Run For Safe Nagpur – was organised today by Nagpur City Police. The marathon which kick started from Shivaji Stadium, Police Headquarters, Katol Road, Nagpur, saw a participation from more than 10,000 Nagpurians. The marathon was organised to create awareness among citizens and also to strengthen the relationship between the police and citizens. The marathon started at 6 am and was flagged off by Principal District and Sessions Judge Pushpa V Ganediwala.  Before the marathon started, DCP Deepali Masirkar and Senior PI Ashok Bagul guided the marathon runners with special instructions.

Fitness enthusiasts started running for the categories ? 3kms, 5kms, 10kms and 21kms – at 6 am, 6:30 am (5kms and 10kms) and 7 am respectively. The marathon route was as follows: Police Line Takli ? Seminary Hills ? Futala Lake Ambazari Lake ? Ramnagar ? Ravi Nagar ? Futala Lake ? Vayusena Nagar ? CGO Complex ? Gondwana Club ? Ramgiri Walkers Street ? GPO Square AyakarBhavan ? Seminary Hills ? Police Line Takli.

Along with running for the marathon, many people were seen enjoying a special Zumba session conducted by MD Zumba and Dance Academy. It was quite a fascinating sight to see the Commissioner of Police Dr K Venkatesham, Principal District and Sessions Judge Pushpa V Ganediwala, DCP Ranjan Sharma, DCP Deepali Masirkar,  DCP Ravindra Pardesi, Senior PI Ashok Bagul and other police officials on one stage and participating in the Zumba session by shaking a leg together.

While speaking to Nation Next about the – Nagpur City Police Marathon 2017 – Commissioner of Police Dr K Venkatesham said, I would like to thank each and every participant at the Nagpur City Police Marathon 2017 for their participation and support. We are extremely delighted to see such energy and enthusiasm from the citizens. We were expecting a participation of 5,000 people but with everyones support, more than 10,000 people have participated today. It’s just fantastic.

Informing about the safety arrangements done for the runners at the marathon, Dr K Venkatesham added, “We have arranged six well equipped ambulances with a doctor and his team, energy drinks and drinking water for the marathon runners. Direction boards and road markings have also been placed to inform runners about their route. To manage the citys traffic and take care of runners we placed three policemen at each square.”

Nagpur City Police Marathon 2017 got over by 10:30 am and was followed by a prize and medal distribution ceremony in the presence of the Principal District and Sessions Judge Pushpa V Ganediwala, Commissioner of Police Dr K Venkatesham, DCP Ranjan Sharma, DCP Deepali Masirkar, DCP Ravindra Pardesi and Senior PI Ashok Bagul.

Active COVID cases near 30,000 mark in Nagpur

Nagpur’s COVID-19 tally, on Tuesday, January 25, reached 5,43,064 (till 5 pm) as 4028 (972 from rural and 2956 from city) new cases were recorded in a single day. 

Also, active COVID cases, as on Tuesday, could be seen inching closer to 30,000 mark in the district.

Six people lost their lives (one from rural and five from city) on Tuesday. Till now, 10,183 people have lost their lives due to COVID-19 in the district. Total tests taken were 11,377.
While patients who recovered on Tuesday were 2519, the total number of recovered patients stood at 503729.

Nagpur reports 90 COVID cases in past 24 hours

Nagpur’s COVID-19 tally on Sunday, January 2 reached 4,94,193 (till 5 pm) as 90 (73 city, nine rural) more people tested positive for the virus. 

Also, five patients recovered on Sunday taking the number of recoveries to 4,83,664. 

Till now, 10123 people have lost their lives due to COVID in the district. As of now, there are 406 active COVID patients in the district.

ALARMING! Nagpur reports 88 COVID cases in past 24 hours

Nagpur registered 88 (81 from city) new COVID-19 positive cases on Friday, December 31. Nagpur previously had recorded as minimum as six cases on December 24.
