Nagpur: Bhopal couple arrested for sexually abusing, duping woman of Rs 4.5 lakh

MIDC Police, on Tuesday, arrested a couple hailing from Bhopal for sexually abusing a 36-year-old widow and cheating her of Rs 4.5 lakh under false pretext of marriage.

The duo has been identified as Tanveer Hussain Haider Jaffery (36, resident of Ashoka Garden, Bhopal) and his wife Nurin Khan (29). The victim, who hails from Nagpur, works in an insurance company. In 2018, the company had organised a workshop in Ujjain, where she became friends with Tanveer, who reportedly worked for the same company.

Tanveer soon won the woman’s trust and sexually abused her under the pretext of marriage. Meanwhile, his wife knew about their relationship, and the duo lured her into investing in EC travels and took Rs 4.5 lakh from her.

As soon as they acquired the money, Tanveer broke up with the woman and refused to pay her money back. In March 2020, the woman lodged a complaint of fraud at MIDC Police Station in Nagpur. A case was registered against the accused duo under Prevention of Atrocities, Fraud, Rape, Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Atrocities Act.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Nurul Hasan and Assistant Commissioner of Police Ashok Bagul, under the guidance of MIDC Assistant Inspector of Police Shashikant Musle, Assistant Sub-Inspectors Vijay Nemade, Ashwin Chaudhary, Amol Thackeray, Pawan Shirsatha and Surekha conducted a search and arrested the accused in Bhopal. They were brought to Nagpur and remanded police custody till December 17.

Atmadeepam Society recently hosted a certificate distribution program for 18 visually-impaired students who completed a course in Computers.

Atmadeepam Society recently hosted a certificate distribution program for the VI/Blind candidates who completed the Computer Fundamentals and Fundamentals of Internet. The courses were conducted by Parivartan centre at Atmadeepam Society in Nagpur. The program was graced by several guests including Dr Harsha Jharia, Chief Administrative Officer, LAD College, Nagpur, and Chaitanya Deshpande, CSR Head, DB Jain Group.

Hema Kubde, Secretary, Atmadeepam Society Nagpur and Yogeshwar Chawwaldhal, Treasurer, Atmadeepam Society Nagpur also graced the occasion. President Jidnyasa Chawaldhal gave the introductory speech and the event was hosted by Aarti Chavan.

During the ceremony, certificates were distributed to 18 VI/Blind candidates who successfully completed the three-month Computer Fundamentals course, and 14 VI/Blind candidates who completed the one-month Fundamentals of Internet course.

We are proud to announce that two of our VI/Blind candidates who completed the courses have secured employment. This achievement is a testament to the effectiveness of the courses in providing practical skills that are valuable in the job market.

Atmadeepam Society is committed to providing education and training opportunities to underprivileged sections of society. We would like to thank our esteemed guests for gracing the occasion and recognising the hard work put in by our VI/Blind candidates and trainers Kamal and Rupali.

DPS Kamptee Road held first-ever Pro-Vice Chairperson Inter-School Swimming Competition 'Poolompics 1.0' in Nagpur.

Delhi Public School Kamptee Road, Nagpur, demonstrated its commitment to promoting sports by organizing the first-ever Pro-Vice Chairperson Inter-School Swimming Competition, ‘Poolompics 1.0’, on the 25th of March, 2023, in its state-of-the-art natatorium. Boasting an indoor swimming pool that matches all benchmarks, the school provided a perfect setting for the event. Ms. Tulika Kedia, President and Pro-Vice Chairperson, Delhi Public School Kamptee Road and MIHAN, Nagpur was the source of inspiration behind this event.

The esteemed Chief Guest for the event Dr. Sambhaji Bhonsale, an accomplished individual in the field of sports and education who currently serves as the Director of Sports at Mathuradas Mohota College of Science, Joint Secretary of the Swimming Association of Maharashtra, Secretary of the Nagpur District Swimming Association, and Chairman of the Swimming Selection Committee at Nagpur University, brought a wealth of experience to the occasion.

The event was also graced by Indrajeet Parganiha, Bursar, Delhi Public School Kamptee Road, Nagpur, Amol Raipurkar, NIS, Swimming Coach and Ritu Sharma, Principal, DPS Kamptee Road, Nagpur.

In total, 115 swimmers participated in 42 events, with 48 schools from Nagpur and other cities competing in the Under 10, Under 12, and Under 14 boys and girls categories, in the 50-mtr and 100-mtr Freestyle, Breaststroke, Backstroke and Butterfly events.

The event was an excellent opportunity for young swimmers to showcase their skills and sportsmanship. The competition was fierce, and the swimmers pushed themselves to their limits, determined to emerge victorious. The atmosphere was electric, with cheers and applause from the audience as the swimmers raced towards the finish line.

DPS Kamptee Road held first-ever Pro-Vice Chairperson Inter-School Swimming Competition 'Poolompics 1.0' in Nagpur.

The judges, comprising of experienced swimming coaches were impressed with the quality of swimming on display. The swimmers demonstrated excellent technique, speed, and endurance, making the judges job of selecting winners a challenging one.

The event concluded with the prize distribution ceremony, where the winners received medals and certificates for their outstanding performances. The participants also received participation certificates as a token of appreciation for their effort and commitment.

The event was a resounding success, and the participants and spectators alike enjoyed an exhilarating day of competition in an exemplary facility.

Shaunak Badole wins Open Championship, Divyanshi Khandelwal wins Women Championship

Shaunak Badole in Open Group and Divyanshi Khandelwal in Women Group annexed the title of Nagpur District Open and Women Selection Chess Championship organised by Chess Association Nagpur in association with GH Raisoni Sports and Cultural Foundation and Kalpana Prakash Welfare Foundation on 26th March 2023 in Nagpur.

Shaunak true to his top seeding scored 6.5 points out of seven rounds and emerged winner. Chandrashekhar Sable with a last round draw with Shaunak stood second with 6 points to his credit. Nilay Kulkarni, Sharma Sai and Ayush Ramteke scored 5.5 points and were adjudged 3rd to 5th in the final list.

In the women group, Divyanshi Khandelwal who was seeded fifth at the start of championship had a memorable event scoring all 5 points out of 5 rounds and won the championship. In her march to the top, she scored over the Top Seed Aparneeta Jagtap and Third seed Tijan Gawar. Aparneeta Jagtap and Tijan Gawar with their only loss to Divyanshi were placed second and third respectively with 4 points. Anvi Hirde and Shanaya Shelkar scored 3.5 points and were placed 4th and 5th in the final merit list.

Shaunak Badole, Chandrashekhar Sable, Nilay Kulkarni and Sharma Sai shall represent Nagpur District in Open Group and Divyanshi Khandelwal, Aparneeta Jagtap, Tijan Gawar, Anvi Hirde and Shanaya Shelkar shall represent Nagpur District in Women Group in the Maharashtra State Open and Women Chess Championship to be held later this year.

Prizes were distributed at the hands of Shri Yashwant Shamkuwar, Ex. Secretary of Vidarbha Chess Association who is a Senior player himself. Shri Bhushsan Shriwas, Secretary, Chess Association Nagpur and Kalpana Prakash Welfare Foundation and Chief Arbiter IA Deepak Chavan were present on the dais. Top 10 Finishers in Open and Women Group got the Trophies and Medals. Medals were also given to Top player in Under 15,13,11,09,07 Category.

Chief Arbiter IA Deepak Chavan, successfully conducted the event assisted by SNA Sagar Sakhare, SNA Sham Agrawal, SNA Prayas Ambade and Prathamesh Machave.
