Quarantined youngsters flee to meet girlfriends; return with liquor, cigarettes, drugs to sell it to inmates

Two youngsters, who were quarantined at Tamenglong in Manipur escaped the quarantine centre to meet their respective girlfriends and later returned with liquor, cigarettes and marijuana.

The duo then sold liquor, cigarettes and marijuana to fellow inmates at the quarantine centre. An official from the quarantine facility caught them red-handed and their story became talk of the town.

Expressing his helplessness, Tamenglong Deputy Commissioner Armstrong Pame reported the incident on Facebook and wrote, I and my team here in the district are truly clueless on how to deal with both these rotten returnees and those local thugs supporting them.

₹2 returnees escaped to meet their GFs (girlfriends) and came back having collected their bike from home₹8 litres of local made liquor brought to one quarantine centre as ordered by some quarantinees₹4 packages of ganja and cigarettes being demanded by one of the quarantineesand caught while being delivered[sic]?, he continued.

Running out of options to punish such offenders, Pame said, even if we impose fines you can easily pay it because you will recover by selling your supply at higher rateswe can’t quarantine you because we can’t feed u or has no more space!!![sic].

Describing the young offenders as rotten apples, Pame said that when everyone ? villagers, church and volunteers ? are coming forward to lend a helping hand at the quarantine centre to fight against this outbreak, these ?black sheeps have frustrated all and have brought a bad name to all those in the quarantine centre.

Pame said, While your parents and relatives are excited that you are home and eagerly await your completion of Q period, why can’t your desire to consume these intoxicants be controlled

The Raaas (2018)

Since The Raaas enchanted and enthralled Nagpur with its quality garba in its first year in 2018, the demand for encore has been reverberating the city. To cater to the huge public demand, the organisers of the king of garbas have decided to continue The Raaas next year on. Like its first year, The Raaas Garba will be presented to Nagpur in association with Nation Next in 2023. Mahesh Kukreja, the key organiser said, “Because of some reasons, we, earlier, thought of giving the event a break.”

He added, “Then COVID-19 struck the world. Now we plan to continue it from next year onwards. While I express my gratitude to Nagpurians to make the event a huge hit, I request the city’s garba revellers to not get fooled as a few garbas are falsely claiming to be The Raaas. We’ll be back next year for sure!”
