Nagpurians successfully completed the marathon race, which was held in four categories ? 4 kms (fun walk/run), 6 kms (dream walk/run), 10 kms (endurance run) and 21 kms (orange city run).

The Flying Sikh? ? Milkha Singh – was the chief guest at Maazee Metro Nagpur Marathon 2016. CM Devendra Fadnavis, Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Nagpur Municipal Commissioner Shravan Hardikar, Nagpur Mayor Pravin Datke, Divisional Commissioner Anoop Kumar, Managing Director at Nagpur Metro Rail Corporation Brijesh Dixit and were the dignitaries, who graced the marathon event. The prize distribution, for the winners who completed the race, took place at 8:30 am at LIT College.

When Nation Next, the online media partner of Maazee Metro Nagpur Marathon 2016, spoke to Milkha Singh, he said, One needs a lot of hard work and dedication to win a medal in Olympics. I feel that India has a lot more talent, but there are very few who coaches who genuinely bring out the talent of our athletes and make India proud. Today, all the credit goes to our Indian coaches who made our athletes win numerous medals in badminton, wrestling, etc for India in various events across the globe in the past. We certainly need more coaches like Pullela Gopichand. I am against foreign coaches as they had ruined Indian talent and the future of our athletes.

He further added by saying, One should have the willpower to achieve their goal, should be disciplined and work out regularly. These three mantras can definitely transform a regular athlete into a successful athlete. Even now, I regularly run for miles because of which my body circulates sufficient blood, which in turn keeps me fit!
