India beats Afghanistan, wins test match by an innings and 262 runs on day two

Afghanistan’s debut test match against India at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru ended in disappointment on Friday as India defeated Afghanistan in the only test by an innings and 262 runs on the Day 2 of the test match. By defeating Afghanistan is just two days, India, for the first time, won a test match in two days. India also earned a rare distinction of clinching twenty wickets in a day.
Batting first, India scored 474 runs at the loss of all wickets with Murali Vijay and Shikhar Dhawan both scoring centuries. Afghanistan bowler Yamin Ahmadzai took three wickets and conceded 51 runs. Chasing the huge score, Afghanistan crumbled in the first innings as the entire team got out putting up a total of just 109 runs. Only one batsman from the team scored over 20 runs. R Ashwin took four wickets for India in the first innings, while Ishant Sharma took two.

After being forced to bat again due to a follow on, Afghanistan, in the second innings, lost the match by an innings and 262 runs as the entire team got out after scoring just 103 runs. Umesh Yadav took three wickets for India and Sharma took two.
Shikhar Dhawan was declared as the Man of the Match for his knock of 107 runs off just 96 balls.

Nagpur’s COVID-19 tally, on Tuesday, January 25, reached 5,43,064 (till 5 pm) as 4028 (972 from rural and 2956 from city) new cases were recorded in a single day.
Also, active COVID cases, as on Tuesday, could be seen inching closer to 30,000 mark in the district.
