IIM-Nagpur launches MBA for working professionals | All details here

IIM Nagpur is launching a two-year MBA for Working Professionals programme in this academic year (2021-22) for mid to senior level executives, who are looking at accelerating their career growth.

The first batch is expected to begin classes in September/October 2021. This programme is planned as a face-to-face in-class programme (the classes may have to be conducted online depending on the prevailing pandemic situation and government restrictions) with classes scheduled on three days a week (either weekday evenings or weekends).

The programme incorporates minimum 750 hours of course work spread over two years, organized into eight terms of three-months each.

The MBA for Working Professionals programme is designed to equip the participants with formal management education and sharpen their skills to enable them to move into senior leadership roles.
The programme aims to develop competent, ethical and professional managers, capable of working in any sector of organized activity, provide leadership and achieve excellence while they contribute to the welfare of their organization as well as the society at large.

Basic Programme Information:

* ? Eligibility: Working professionals with minimum 50% marks (or equivalent) in graduation and minimum 3 years of work experience will be eligible to apply.

* ? Programme Duration: Two years (the first batch is likely to start around Sept/Oct 2021 and classes will conclude around Sept 2023; the batch will receive their degrees and alumni status in the subsequent Annual Convocation.

* ? Curriculum has been curated to match latest industry requirements after benchmarking with the best international as well as Indian management institutes. Valuable inputs from eminent experts and leaders from the industry and academia have been incorporated in the curriculum.

Admissions Policy


The admission process, including the shortlisting and selection criteria for the Master of Business Administration for Working Professionals, 2021-23 batch at the Indian Institute of Management Nagpur (IIM Nagpur) are as under ?


2.1 Educational Qualification

A candidate should have any one of the following educational qualifications:

* ? A Bachelors Degree or equivalent in any discipline with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks or an equivalent CGPA.

* ? Candidates having professional qualifications such as CA/ICWA/CS (with at least 50 percent aggregate marks) can also apply.

Bachelors degree or equivalent qualification should be:

(a) from any of the Universities incorporated by an act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under section 3 of UGC Act, 1956 or,(b) recognized by the Ministry of Education, Government of India or,(c) possess an equivalent qualification from an institution approved by AICTE or the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).

2.2 Work Experience

A minimum of three years of post-qualification (mentioned above in section 2.1.) managerial/ entrepreneurial/ professional experience as of 31st July 2021 is required.
Work experience after completion of the bachelors degree/professional qualification will be considered. To be eligible for the programme, the candidate has to be currently working/employed full-time.

The total number of months of work experience completed (as of 31st July 2021) will be considered. Only full-time and paid experience after completion of graduation/professional qualification will be considered. Part-time/Project/Internship/CA Articleship/Apprenticeship/Pre-graduation work experience/ work experience which involves payment as stipend will not be counted as work experience.
For work experience in multiple organizations, all the durations (months and days) will be added to arrive at the total experience. For example, if the total work experience is 13 months and 25 days, it will be considered 13 months.

A valid proof of the date of appointment, work experience certificate, and proof of payment/salary will have to be submitted at the time of registration for the program.
For candidates having work experience in the family business or own business venture, valid proofs of the existence of the business, association, and role of the individual in the business and proof of payment during work experience will be required.
It will be the candidates responsibility to provide documents as and when required by the Admissions Office.


Candidates for MBA-WP need to appear for a screening examination conducted by IIM Nagpur (IIM Nagpur Aptitude Test ? IIMNAT) to be considered for admission to the MBA-WP programme. IIMNAT will consist of questions that evaluate a candidates quantitative, verbal, logical, and data interpretive abilities.
Following are the key details about the IIMNAT Entrance Test:

* ? Date of Entrance Exam: Last week of August/First week of September 2021 (Tentatively)

* ? Mode of Entrance Exam: Offline (in-class) exam in the form of a pen/pencil- paper test. Details will be shared with candidates before the examination via email/admission portal.

* ? Duration: 90 minutes

* ? Location: IIM Nagpur, VNIT Campus.

* ? No. of Questions: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) (divided into three sections ? Verbal Ability, Quantitative Ability, Logical Reasoning & Data Interpretation)

Corporate honchos share management mantras with Symbiosis students in Nagpur

Symbiosis Institute of Business Management Nagpur after successfully conducting its first day orientation program on June 13, started off with its day two of orientation program with all eminent names from the industry. The program started with introducing the eminent guests.

Day two was graced by five eminent personalities from Industry, Aniruddha Chakravarty, Technical director, KPMG India. He congratulated the students on getting selected at SIBM-Nagpur, an institute of high repute in the field of management with a spectacular campus.

Chakravarty emphasized on importance of data and how analytics is becoming the backbone of businesses. He further added the important functions in analytics are data mining, data aggression, forecasting and data visualizing. He summarized the same with examples related to health care and renewable energy.

Tarunesh Mathur during his address focused on the importance of soft skills along with the hard skills. He also elaborated that future of business lies on – resilience, flexibility and agility. He also elaborated on ‘what not to do in next two years of degree’ as person focuses on what to do but no one focuses on what not to.

Later, three virtual live sessions were conducted, first by Boishaki Banerjee, global HR director, water and Air wellness, HUL. She emphasized on importance of HR as a career and how HR need not be rigid in their approach but be experimental to learn new things. 

Second virtual session was conducted by Rahul Suryavanshi Head HR, TM & D, ITC Ltd. He threw light on the aspects of B2b and B2C business with emphasis on brand management. He also guided students as to how a career path in sales & marketing would shape up. 

The third virtual speaker was Krishnendu Dasgupta, Business Leader, ITC Foods. He explained the important skills as marketers and the reason behind being successful and being less successful. The key to it according to him was to cope with daily pressure. He guided students as to what roles are available for marketing specialization students. He elaborated the way markets are developing in India and how sales would be the best way to start a career in marketing.

All the sessions were followed by question and answer by students to all the dignitaries.

At the later part of the day, a personal grooming session was conducted by two renowned trainers Harsimran and Jerrald. They are well known names in the field of grooming for over 14 and 12 years respectively. While Harsimran graduated from London and has worked with Jet airways, Taj Hotels and Kingfisher Airlines, Jerrald completed his course from Scotland and has worked with Indigo, Spicejet, NIIT to name a few. They both emphasized on the importance of executive grooming, body language and personal presentation and personal marketing, which are necessary for B-School students.

SIBM, Nagpur flagged off its Management Orientation Program for the batch 2022-24 batch from 13th June 2022

Symbiosis Institute of Business Management Nagpur flagged off its Management Orientation Program for the batch 2022-24 batch from 13th June 2022. This is an annual event where in the students who got through with the entrance process and bagged admission are oriented about Symbiosis and SIBM culture.

The program started with lightening of the inaugural lamp by the dignitaries and the address by Director SIBM-Nagpur, Dr Shrirang Altekar who is the alumnus of SIBM Pune 83’ batch.

Dr Altekar briefed the students about the campus life and also elaborated about the rigorous teaching learning process of SIBM Nagpur. He further emphasised on the need of such culture for overall development of the students, and which will further help them acquire better positions in the corporate world. He briefed the students about the last year’s placement records, which is phenomenal with 96% placed students and highest package of ₹25.6 lakh also average package of ₹11 lakhs. 

The program was graced by several senior alumni of SIBM, Pune with names like Amit Puri, DGM, JK Papers Ltd., Sumita Majumdar, Head HR ITC Hotels – Sheraton, Ram Sarma Varanasi, Former Director Sales at Oracle, Partner at Bizwin Consulting Services and Ashutosh Bishnoi – Former MD & CEO, Mahindra Manulife.

Amit Puri while addressing focused on encouraging students to be determined at what they want and pursue their passion. He also elaborated on giving back to the society.

Sumita Majumdar emphasized on focusing on learning new skills and also to team work. She also emphasized on women being more self-sufficient and independent.

Ram Sarma Varanasi shared his experience at symbiosis, learnings from the fields and also asked students to strive for the excellence in whatever they do.

Ashutosh Bishnoi guided the students about finding what is real meaning of success and asked them to choose wisely what they dream of because life is important. “Work but not at the cost of life.”

The session was followed by question and answer session by students and parents to all the dignitaries present.

Later the alumni of SIBM-Nagpur batch 2019-21 Abhilash Raja, Utkarsh Singh, Vipul Bhishikar, Abhishek Chandak and batch 2020-22  Simran Vadhwa shared their experiences with the new batch. They elaborated about the fun of campus life at SIBM Nagpur. They also emphasized about the learning with activities and evening activities which they enjoyed at campus life.

The day ended with briefings about academics, placements, clubs and committees, examination process and policy by respective heads at SIBM Nagpur.

LAD College conducts IRICH workshop on carbon footprint, climate change

Interdisciplinary Research Ideation and Collaboration Hub (IRICH), the latest initiative from the Women’s Education Society (WES), recently held a six-day intense workshop ‘Research Ideation and Exploration (RIEW)’ for selected students from the various post graduate courses conducted in its institutions.

Dr Kamal Singh, former vice-chancellor of SDG Amravati University was the chief guest at the valedictory function. Delivering her valedictory address, she spoke on ‘Ethics in Research’ and urged the students to adopt a strong value system while conducting research.

Around 39 students from the 10 post graduate departments of LAD and Smt RP College for women and the Smt Manoramabai Mundle College of Architecture (SMMCA) participated in the workshop.

The focus was to explore areas of interdisciplinary in research and the participants worked in heterogeneous groups to identify areas of the same. They were introduced to concepts of Sustainability and Sustainable Development Goals, Climate change, Carbon Footprint, Traditional knowledge systems, Mechanics of interdisciplinary research and Cognition in research.

Dr Kamal Singh presented the certificates and membership cards of IRICH were issued to the participants.

The workshop was held under the patronage of advocate Sunil Manohar President WES, Dr Avinash Deshmukh Vice-President WES, Dr Shyamala Nair Secretary WES, Dr Nanda Rathi Jt Secretary WES, Dr Harsha Jharia Chief Administrative Officer WES and mentors from all the departments. The function was conducted by Dr Roopal Deshpande, Coordinator IRICH.
