The 24-year-old Hinganghat lecturer from Wardha Ankita Pissude who was battling for life since a week now succumbed to death after suffering from 40 per cent burns. Pissude, who breathed her last on Monday morning (February 10) at 6:55 am, suffered a heart attack twice, one being at 4 am.
Doctors said that her burn injuries were extremely deep and her lungs also got affected due to severe infection. Doctors said that her lungs were affected as all three layers of the skin were burned. She had suffered grade three level burns and inhalation injuries.
Pissude was critical with fluctuating oxygen levels in her blood. She was on ventilator at Orange City Hospital and Research Institute (OCHRI) in Nagpur after a 27-year-old man Vikesh Nagrale burnt her in public on February 3. Nagrale, who is currently prisoned in Wardha Jail is a married man and has a child. He set the girl on fire after she resisted his advances.

Mahesh Kukreja, the key organiser said, “Because of some reasons, we, earlier, thought of giving the event a break.”
He added, “Then COVID-19 struck the world. Now we plan to continue it from next year onwards. While I express my gratitude to Nagpurians to make the event a huge hit, I request the city’s garba revellers to not get fooled as a few garbas are falsely claiming to be The Raaas. We’ll be back next year for sure!”
