GoAir sacks senior pilot over derogatory tweet on PM Narendra Modi

GoAir airline on Friday fired a senior pilot for allegedly posting derogatory remarks about Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Twitter. The captain had posted some tweets about PM Modi on January 7 that led to an uproar on social media, after which, the airline distanced itself from the pilots tweets and took action against him.

According to a GoAir spokesperson, the airline has terminated the services of the captain with immediate effect. GoAir has a zero-tolerance policy and it is mandatory for all GoAir employees to comply with the company’s employment rules, regulations and policies, including social media behaviour. The airline does not associate itself with personal views expressed by any individual or an employee, GoAir spokesperson told a daily.

Meanwhile, the pilot has tendered an apology for his remarks on Twitter. He said: I apologise for my tweets about the prime minister and other offensive tweets, which may have hurt sentiments of anyone associated. I convey that GoAir is not associated with any of my tweets directly or indirectly as they were personal views. I take full responsibility for my actions and would like to apologise for my mistakes and willingly accept the consequences.

The Raaas (2018)

Since The Raaas enchanted and enthralled Nagpur with its quality garba in its first year in 2018, the demand for encore has been reverberating the city. To cater to the huge public demand, the organisers of the king of garbas have decided to continue The Raaas next year on. Like its first year, The Raaas Garba will be presented to Nagpur in association with Nation Next in 2023. Mahesh Kukreja, the key organiser said, “Because of some reasons, we, earlier, thought of giving the event a break.”

He added, “Then COVID-19 struck the world. Now we plan to continue it from next year onwards. While I express my gratitude to Nagpurians to make the event a huge hit, I request the city’s garba revellers to not get fooled as a few garbas are falsely claiming to be The Raaas. We’ll be back next year for sure!”
