Nagpur Zone II DCP Vinita S along with senior police inspectors once again cracked a whip on citizens who were flouting all COVID-19 norms in areas including Ramdaspeth, Ramnagar, Laxmi Bhavan Square, Dharampeth, Sitabuldi, Mangalwari Bazaar in Sa-dar, Dhantoli and Gaddigodam.

Zone II team said that a youngster in Ramdaspeth gave them a tough time as she was extremely unapologetic and blunt despite flouting COVID-19 norms. DCP Vinita along with her team through public announcements urged shopkeepers and people around to abide by COVID-19 guidelines and to maintain social distancing, wear masks and not loiter unnecessarily in the market areas.

NMC teams were also called to take action against the shops violating prohibitory orders. Around seven such shops were challaned and given notice for flouting COVID-19 guidelines issued by the NMC.
Strict action was taken under Epidemic Disease Act 1897 and various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against all violators despite repeated instructions hence endangering lives of general public.

Active COVID cases near 30,000 mark in Nagpur
Nagpur’s COVID-19 tally, on Tuesday, January 25, reached 5,43,064 (till 5 pm) as 4028 (972 from rural and 2956 from city) new cases were recorded in a single day.
Also, active COVID cases, as on Tuesday, could be seen inching closer to 30,000 mark in the district.

Nagpur’s COVID-19 tally on Sunday, January 2 reached 4,94,193 (till 5 pm) as 90 (73 city, nine rural) more people tested positive for the virus.

Nagpur registered 88 (81 from city) new COVID-19 positive cases on Friday, December 31. Nagpur previously had recorded as minimum as six cases on December 24.
