COVID-19: Cops arrest 3 men for making fake audio clip of ₹59 cases in Nagpur

The Cyber Crime cell of Nagpur Police arrested three men on Friday for making and circulating a fake audio clip, which claimed that the number of coronavirus patients in the city has risen to 59. The audio clip, which was widely circulated on social media led to panic among citizens across the country.

The three men have been identified as Jay Gupta (37), Amit Pardhi (38) and Divyanshu Mishra (33). It is being reported that Pardhi and Gupta made the fake audio clip and then forwarded it to Mishra, who later forwarded it to his wife. The wife sent the clip to another friend and in no time, the clip went viral.

For the uninitiated, the 4 minute 52 seconds long audio clip had a conversation between Gupta and Pardhi talking about 59 positive cases in orange city. It was also stated during the conversation that there were more than 200 suspects in the city.

A 49-year-old man in Nagpur died while playing badminton in Pachpaoli area on Monday morning at around 6:45 am.

A 49-year-old man in Nagpur died while playing badminton in Pachpaoli area on Monday morning at around 6:45 am. The deceased, identified as Gunnu Dharma Lohara, was a resident of Yadav Nagar who was playing badminton with his friend. 

He was rushed to Central Railway Hospital in an unconscious state and was declared dead by the doctors there.
