In a sensational case, Yavatmal Police nabbed a Bhartiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) office-bearer Shubham Tolani (25), a transgender and four others on Monday night within 12 hours for abducting a local businessman’s teenage son and demanding Rs 50 lakh for his release.
The businessman Ishwar Nachwanis teenage son Harsh Nachwani was returning from his tuition class on his motorcycle on Monday morning, when he was stopped by a couple of men, who threatened him with a knife and then abducted him.
As Harsh did not return home on time, his family got worried and went to search for him in his tuition class, where he was not found. During the search, the family members found Harshs motorcycle in a nullah. They then approached and informed Avdhutwadi Police Station about the incident.
Meanwhile, Ishwar Nachwani received a 10-second video clip on his mobile phone where a shirtless and scared Harsh in an isolated open space could be seen requesting his father to pay Rs 50 lakh to save his life. One of the abductors could also be heard demanding the money in 1 hour.
Ishwar quickly informed the police, which swung in action immediately. The cops started scanning CCTV footages in different areas for a lead but could not get any. During the investigation, cops got suspicious about Shubham Tolani who had accompanied Ishwar Nachwani to the police station. Shubham was then interrogated by the police.
As per reliable sources, Nation Next learnt that Shubham got scared and started giving absurd reasons to leave the police station. This got the cops more suspicious who put surveillance on him. Shubham was later interrogated strictly, after which he confessed his role in kidnapping Harsh Nachwani. Shubham then took the cops in a house where Harsh was found along with other kidnappers.
Apart from Shubham, those involved in the kidnapping and extortion included: a transgender named Suraj alias Sapna Shukla working as a security guard at Shubhams home, Nilesh Unnarkat (37), Nitesh Rathod, Arvind Sable (26) and Satish Shelotkar (37). The accused have been booked under 364(a), 34 and other relevant sections of the IPC and have been sent to PCR till July 21. BREAKING: Bombay High Court grants bail to Anil Deshmukh in money laundering case
Bombay High Court on Tuesday granted bail to former Maharashtra Home Minister and senior NCP leader Anil Deshmukh (72) in money laundering case registered by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). However, Deshmukh would continue to be lodged in judicial custody in Arthur Road jail as he is also being investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in an alleged corruption case.
Justice NJ Jamadar pronounced the order at 2.30 pm on Tuesday afternoon. While senior Advocate Vikram Chaudhari with advocate Aniket Nikam appeared for Deshmukh, a team of Additional Solicitor General Anil Singh with Advocates Aditya Thakker, Shreeram Shirsat and Amandeep Sra appeared for the central agency.
The bail was granted on a surety amount of ₹1 lakh. The ED has sought a stay on the operation of the order for two weeks. Deshmukh’s lawyers said that considering the former’s health and the fact that he had no criminal antecedents, he should be granted bail.
Deshmukh and his associates have been investigated for alleged corruption between 2019 and 2021. Deshmukh was arrested in November 2021.
