CM Uddhav Thackeray, Nitin Gadkari inaugurate Nagpur Metro stretch, Freedom Park

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, Union Minister of Transport Nitin Gadkari and Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri, on Friday, inaugurated the Nagpur Metro stretch and Freedom Park in Civil Lines, Nagpur.
The stretch included- 1.6km section between Sitabuldi and Kasturchand Park and the Zero Mile Zero Mile station. Along with this, iconic Freedom Park was put to public use.
The Sitabuldi- Kasturchand Park extension connects and provides access to the most important monuments and establishments of the city namely Vidhan Sabha ? the busiest area of the city during the winter session, Reserve Bank of India, Central Museum, Samvidhan Square and Morris College. It also provides connectivity to the prime commercial area of Sadar Bazar, which houses several shops, restaurants, offices, hotels, etc.
Zero Mile station is one of the most iconic and unique structures of Nagpur Metro Project. It is the only metro station in India, which was designed as a 20-storey building with trains passing through its 4th floor.
To commemorate the 75th year of countrys Independence, about 40,000 square feet area surrounding Zero Mile station was converted into public park named Freedom Park and station is now named as ?Zero Mile Freedom Park.
Speaking at the event, Nitin Gadkari, Lok Sabha MP from Nagpur, said, Zero Mile station is India’s first 20-storey metro station. It is designed by French architects and will bring new opportunities for the commercial sector in Nagpur.
LOP Devendra Fadnavis, Mayor Dayashankar Tiwari, Dr Nitin Raut (states Energy Minister and Guardian Minister of Nagpur), Shri Eknath Shinde (Minister of Urban Development) and Shri Sunil Kedar (Minister of Animal Husbandry and Sports) were present at the event.
Along with them, MLC Girish Vyas, Pravin Datke and MLAs Vikas Thakre were present too.

NMC permanently caps size of idols installed during celebrations

Nagpur Municipal Corporation has taken a bold step towards a greener environment. NMC Commissioner Radhakrishnan B on Friday passed an order and permanently capped size of idols installed during festive celebrations in the city. By doing so, NMC has not only set an example but has also probably become the first municipal body in the country to take such a step.
As per the order passed by the NMC commissioner mandals will not be allowed to install an idol larger than 4 feet x 4 feet and for individuals the allowed size will be 2 feet x 2 feet.
Speaking to a daily, Radhakrishnan B said that the step was being taken or prevent the city’s bodies from getting polluted. He also informed that NMC will provide artificial tanks for the immersion of idols.

Lactation room inaugurated at district collector office in Nagpur
Nagpur Smart and Sustainable City Development Corporation Limited (NSSCDCL) and Nagpur District Collector Office jointly installed a Lactation Room having state-of-the-art facilities in the premises of District Collector Office, Civil Lines, on the occasion of Womens Day on Tuesday.
Divisional Commissioner Prajakta Lawangare Verma inaugurated the room in the presence of District Collector R Vimala, Buvesneswari S (CEO, NSSCDCL) and Additional Collector Shrish Pande. The first of its kind facility has also been inaugurated at the premises of Nagpur Municipal Corporation by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari.
As a global health recommendation, infants should be exclusively breastfed for the first 6-24 months of life. By enhancing the public domain of young children and their families to be healthy and more stimulating for early childhood, there is a need to consciously address the needs of young children and lactating mothers. Nagpur Smart City has installed a Room to provide a safe, private, and secure place for women for feeding. The room is equipped with up-to-the-minute facilities and top-grade/ prime quality components.
This is the first of its kind among all the Smart Cities in the nation. The CSR-funded facility is also the first in India to be installed in the premises of Administrative Buildings to promote inclusivity and user comfort in District Collector premises.
The Mother-Child friendly Rooms 4ft x 8ft area comprises of comfortable seating space, adjustable tabletop, mirror surface above the cabinet, storage space for diapers, water boiler, sanitizer, first aid box, disposal unit that encourages inclusivity for working and visiting women with infants. The standalone room also has electrical connection for all fixtures with detachable floor mat that is easy to clean.
The initiative CSR with conceptual design for lactation room has been initiated by Chief Planner of Smart City Rahul Pande and his team. CSR fund is provided by Estoria Builders and Developers Limited. Divisional Commissioner presented a certificate of appreciation to Harshawardhan Nagpure and Sachin Nagpure for the CSR initiative. The programme was conducted by Manish Soni, PRO of Smart City while Law Officer Manjeet Neware proposed vote of thanks. The interns of Nagpur Smart City played essential role in the execution of this unique feature. The team members of Nagpur Smart City were present in the function.
