Katol jawan gets martyred in Pakistan firing; Anil Deshmukh attends last rites of his constituencys hero


Martyred Soldier Naik Bhushan Rameshrao Satai’s wreath-laying ceremony was held at Kamptee cantonment in Nagpur 

Naik Bhushan Rameshrao Satai, a soldier who hailed from Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukhs Vidhan Sabha constituency Katol in Nagpur district, died after Pakistani troops during ceasefire violation at the Line of Control (LoC) on Friday, November 13 in Jammu & Kashmir. 


His wreath laying ceremony in full military honour was held at Kamptee today (Monday, November 16) in the presence of Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh, Nagpur Guardian Minister Dr Nitin Raut to name a few.


At 5 pm on Sunday, the aircraft carrying Bhushans body reached Nagpur airport and his remains were taken to Kamptee cantonment.

Pakistan on Friday indulged in heavy cross-border shelling along the LoC, in which five security forces personnel and six civilians lost their lives. Later, Indian troops retaliated strongly by killing eight Pakistani soldiers and injuring 12 others besides causing extensive damage to its infrastructure.

Cricketers, friends pay tribute to late sports journalist Ruchir Mishra on 44th birth anniversary

Cricketers, colleagues, friends and family members of late sports journalist Ruchir Mishra, who died due to COVID on May 4, 2021, at the age of 43, celebrated his life and recalled the time spent with Ruchir on his 44th birth anniversary.

Ruchir’s wife Nitu Mishra, his kids (Nitya and Kabir), his brothers (Arpit, Ankit and Harshit) his brother-in-laws and his parents Geeta and Dinesh Mishra had organised a memorial event at Press Club on April 22, 2022.

During the memorial event, Ruchir’s colleagues from the The Times of India, Nagpur, remembered the time spent with him. Cricketers VVS Laxman, Mohammad Kaif, Wasim Jaffar, Shikhar Dhawan, Umesh Yadav and Chandrakant Pandit who were good friends with Ruchir, also sent video messages, which were played on a screen.

Renowned Nagpur businessman AK Gandhi passes away

Renowned businessman from Nagpur Ashok Gandhi (popularly known as AK Gandhi), who was one of the biggest brands in white goods retails in Vidarbha, passed away due to heart attack on Friday night.


Gandhi, who was in his early seventies, was admitted at CIIMS Hospital in Bajaj Nagar where he breathed his last.


Gandhi, who was the President of Nagpur Shikshan Mandal, ran popular showrooms at Yeshwant Stadium including AK Gandhi TVS, AK Gandhi Electronics to name a few.

Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar passed away on Sunday morning, February 6 at 8:12 am after fighting COVID and pneumonia for almost a month.

The legendary singer, as per doctors, died due to multi-organ failure at the age of 93.

In the picture, taken in 1996 in Nagpur, legendary singer could be seen sharing a hearty laugh along with former Union Minister and ex-BCCI President from Nagpur late NKP Salve and her ‘rakhi brother’ late actor Dilip Kumar.

The singer, during her trip to Nagpur, had also interacted with journalists during her press conference at Hotel Tuli International.

Dilip Kumar, one of greatest actors of all time and a legend of mainstream Indian cinema, passed away in Mumbai at the age of 98 in July last year.

NKP Salve, the veteran Congress leader, passed away at a private hospital in Delhi due to age-related problems on April 1, 2012 at the age of 90.

He is survived by a son and eminent lawyer Harish Salve and daughter Arundhati Upadhyaya who’s a prominent educationist in Central India.
