Vidarbha welcomes its cricket champions and so does Amul!

Amul’s poster dedicated to Vidarbha’s win over Delhi in Ranji Trophy.

When Team Vidarbha led-by captain Faiz Fazal scripted history by beating Team Delhi to win the first Ranji Trophy title, it got even Indian company Amul excited. Amul, which is known for its smart advertising campaigns related to current affairs, released a poster dedicating it to Team Vidarbha’s win. Fazal too shared the poster on his Facebook profile.

While at one hand Amul sweet gesture had the Vidarbha captain bowled over, he along with the rest of the team were in for another surprise as they returned to Nagpur from Mumbai on Thursday evening. The entire team got an exciting welcome at the Nagpur Airport. Apart from the fans and families of players, also present at the airport awaiting the return of players were Nagpur Mayor Nanda Jichkar and MLA Sudhakar Deshmukh along with VCA officials including – President Anand Jaiswal, Vice-president Prashant Vaidya and Secretary BS Bhatti.

As soon as Mumbai-Nagpur bound GoAir flight landed at around 8:15 pm, celebratory sound of sandals filled the air at the airport. When the players were finally at the arrival gate, they were welcomed to a sight of several people dancing and waiting to shower their love on their beloved cricketers. The first one to come out of the gate was Siddhesh Neral, who joined the people and shook a leg with them! As the cricketers finally started approaching the team bus one by one, they were garlanded amidst a lot of cheer. Just when we thought, the moment couldn’t get any better, Faiz Fazal on entering the bus held the replica of ‘Ranji Trophy’ in his hands giving a chance to many to capture the moment in their cameras.

Vidarbha team bus was then taken to Vidarbha Cricket Association, Civil Lines, for a small reception. On January 5, the winning team will be felicitated at a grand function at the same venue.
