Letter written by Dr Mahesh Shah to Yavatmal District Collector MD Singh?

In a first, a well-known doctor from Yavatmals Shah Hospital and Critical Care Centre Dr Mahesh Shah tendered resignation after citing various reasons. Shah, who had converted his hospital into a COVID-19 care facility, wrote a letter to the District Collector of Yavatmal MD Singh enlisting several reasons, one of them being pressure by politicians for getting people admitted for COVID-19 treatment.

Amid the pandemic, several doctors and medical staff have been working day and night to treat COVID-19 patients. However, despite their tremendous efforts and services, it has been observed that many of these frontline workers get harassed, tortured and even physically abused by several citizens.

Dr Shah listed several reasons behind his decision, which disturbed him in his daily practice and gave him tremendous pressure.

I am under tremendous pressure. So kindly relive me from this pressure. Till your order I will see only my admitted patients, Dr Shah wrote in his letter.

Following are the reasons, which Dr Shah mentioned in his letter to the district collector:

1- As there are lot of pressure for Admission of patients and fail element to blackmail me.

3- Patients coming here in last stage refer by other physicians

4- Lot of misunderstanding regarding this is test in people taking advantage of that creating news on whats app & Twitter also to mine break my image and this is not good for me and my Hospital.

5- Lot of pressure from politicians for admission of the patient.
