A rape incident that occurred in a moving bus at Washim in Maharashtra could unfortunately be called as an ugly reminder of the horrific Nirbhaya rape and murder case that shook the nation in 2012.
A 21-year-old woman, travelling to Pune after boarding a bus from Nagpur, was allegedly raped in a moving bus by a 25-year-old cleaner on January 6, 2021. The luxury bus reportedly belonged to Goodwill Travels.
The survivor said the cleaner had asked her to shift from seat number five to seat number 15. She said that the cleaner raped her twice and threatened to throw her off the bus. She further said that he even threatened to kill her with a knife.
A zero FIR was lodged on the basis of the survivor’s statement at Rajnandgaon Police Station. Meanwhile, cops have sent a team to Nagpur to nab the cleaner and have seized the bus. Pune Rural Police transferred the case to Malegaon Police Station for further investigation.
As per reports, the survivor, who belongs to Gondia, works with a private company in MIDC at Rajnandgaon in Pune. As per the same reports, she had gone to Bhandara to attend her sister’s wedding. The horrific incident took place while she was returning to Pune from Nagpur after attending the wedding. More details are awaited.
