Vidarbha Vs Delhi: Rajneesh picks up a hat-trick; Fazal hits fifty before losing his wicket

After finishing the play at 271 for the fall of six wickets on Day 1 of the final between Vidarbha and Delhi in the Ranji Trophy final at Indore’s Holkar Cricket Stadium and with batsman Dhruv Shorey unbeaten on 123, Delhi was well in a position to go beyond 300 runs. But Vidarbha bowler Rajneesh Gurbani, who has been in superb form the entire tournament, had another plans. Gurbani restricted Delhi to 295 as he clinched a hat-trick and became the only second bowler in the history to take a hat-trick in a Ranji Trophy final. In all, Gurbani claimed six wickets for 59 runs for Vidarbha.
Vidarbha batsman too gave the side a solid start as captain and opener Faiz Fazal scored his 32nd half century before losing his wicket to bowler Akash Sudan on 67 runs. At tea on Day 2, Vidarbha’s total stood at 129 for the loss of two wickets. While for Delhi, it’s important to take wickets to avoid Vidarbha to score a lead, Vidarbha too needs to hold on to its wickets to amass Delhi’s total of 295.
