We wanted to reciprocate their love. Also, most importantly, the US has strong historic tries with all parts of Indian society including the Muslim community. And, so, we wanted to make sure that we show our appreciation for the traditions of the Muslim community. Kagan who has been in India for the last ten months also said that he has been lucky to have the love from the Indian community in Mumbai. He added, The US Consulate has been in India for almost 180 years. Over the years, we have built a lot of strong relationships in India. But relationships need work and so we wanted to make sure we are showing hospitality to our friends.
Addressing the people present, Dr Kazi too spoke about the the strong relationship shared by the United States of America and India. Dr Kazi gave examples of Indian techies, who are heading top companies in the US. He also spoke how US Consulate General have adopted one of his schools in Mumbai and the students there have been given free library access at the Consulate. He thanked Kagan for hosting the Eid Milan function and hoped that the US-Indo relationship grows stronger in the future.
When asked if US Consulate General would like to adopt some more schools in India and strengthen educational ties, Kagan said, Yes. But the bigger question is how? We have always tried very hard to encourage Indians to study in the US. We have also work towards developing strong educational ties and encouraging Americans to study in India. That’s very important for US-Indo relationship. We want many Indians to know about United States and we also want more Americans to know about and visit India. Our relationship is not just between leaders, it’s between people of the United States of America and the people of India.
