Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray has announced that political, religious and social gatherings will be banned from Feb 22 due to increase in COVID-19 cases.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray announced on February 21 that political, religious and social gatherings will be banned from February 22 in the state due to an increase in COVID-19 cases. During his address, Thackeray also hinted at a possible lockdown in the state if COVID-19 cases keep rising in the state.

Maharashtra reported more than 7,000 COVID-19 cases in the span of 24 hours on February 21. Mumbai alone accounted for 921 COVID-19 cases.
