National Agriculture Conclave in Nagpur brings Vice Chancellors and educationists under one roof

GH Raisoni University (GHRU) in collaboration with Indian Council of Agriculture Research (ICAR), recently organised a two-day National Agriculture Conclave at Hotel Radisson Blu, Nagpur. The conclave, which had Agricultural Education? as its theme, brought a number of Vice Chancellors and educationists across India under one roof.

Present during the inaugural ceremony of the conclave were Chief Guest Dr Prof S Parasuraman, Sunil Raisoni (President, GHRU), Dr Narendra Singh Rathore (Deputy Director General, Agricultural Education, Division of Education, ICAR), Guest of Honour Dr Akhilesh Pandey (Chairman, MP Private University Regulatory Commission, Bhopal) and Dr Rajan Welukar (Vice Chancellor, GHRU).

Addressing the people present at the conclave on Day 1, Dr Rajan Welukar (Vice Chancellor, GH Raisoni University), explained the reason behind organizing the conclave. He informed that with agriculture being the most important industry in India, it is necessary to inform students and farmers about the changing techniques in the field of farming over the years. With the help of an illustration, he stressed upon the need of learning the basic farming techniques. It is for this reason that the conclave inviting vice chancellors and educationists has been organized, informed Dr Welukar.

The two-day conclave consisted of three sessions on Day 1 discussing the topics:

? Status and Scope of Human Capital Requirement in Agricultural and Allied sectors

? Reforms in Knowledge Skill Requirement of Agricultural Graduates

? Enhancing Agricultural Productivity, Competitiveness and Rural growth

These sessions were convened, chaired and addressed by Dr MB Chetti (ADG, Human Resource Development, ICAR), Dr SS Chahal (Former VC, MPUAT, Udaypur, New Delhi), Dr Praveen Rao (VC, PJTSAU, Hyderabad), Dr B Venkatesh Warlu (ADG – EQR), Dr HS Gupta (Former Director, IARI, New Delhi), Dr BG Mukhopadhyay (Former CGM, NABARD, Mumbai), Mahesh Dalvi (Manager, e-Yantra), Lohit Penubaku (Assistant Manager, e-Yantra), Ajit Harpude (In-charge, Urban Agriculture Project), Dr Bajarbarua (VC, AAU, Assam), Dr Sharad Nimbalkar (Former Vice Chancellor, Dr PVKV, Akola), Dr SA Patil (Former Director, IARI, New Delhi), Dr PG Chengappa (Former VC, UAS, Bangalore, Dr R M Kummur (CGM, NABARD (Retd), Mumbai).

On the Day 2 of the conclave, delegates visited the GHRU campus at Saikheda, Madhya Pradesh where they interacted with the students.

1st COVID-19 case in Ramdaspeth crops up near Cabinet Minister Vijay Wadettiwars residence

For the first time, a resident of Ramdaspeth tested positive for Coronavirus on Saturday. The patient, who is said to be residing in an apartment near Cabinet Minister for Relief and Rehabilitation in the Maha Vikas Aghadi and senior Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwars residence (behind Tuli Imperial), is said to be a middle-aged woman. 

The patient is reportedly connected to a resident from Mominpura. However, nothing concrete as of now can be said about the same. More details are awaited.

Nagpur: 91 test positive in 24 hours making COVID-19 tally rise to 1266

Nagpur COVID-19 tally as on June 20 rose to 1266 after 91 people tested positive for the virus in past 24 hours. Out of the total 91, while 69 patients belonged to Naik Talao/Bangladesh, 11 from Shantinagar, four from Lashkaribagh, three from Ganeshpeth, one from Uppalwadi, one from Ramdaspeth, one from Mehendibagh and one belonged to Mominpura.

Out of the total, 823 have been cured and over 333 are currently being treated upon.

Nagpur man discovers 4-month-old foetus in gutter; cops suspect illegal abortion

In yet another shocking incident, a resident named Rahul Tumane discovered a 4-month-old foetus lying in an abandoned condition behind his house (near plot number 13, behind Kajal Bar and Restaurant area) in Pardi inside a gutter. 

Police inspector Sunil Chavan told Nation Next that a four-month-old foetus, wrapped in a cloth, was found lying inside a gutter near a house on Thursday night in Pardi. Chavan also informed that the foetus was sent for an autopsy to Mayo Hospital and the reports are awaited. Police have suspected the possibility of abandonment after an illegal abortion. 

A case has been registered under Section 318 (Concealment of birth by secret disposal of a dead body) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) on the basis of a complained filed by Tumane.
