Nagpur resident Ulhas Gandhe to be match official in IPL 2021
Ulhas Gandhe
Nagpur resident Ulhas Gandhe has been appointed as the match official for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPLT20) slated from April 9 this year.
Gandhe, who is also a former Ranji Trophy player, would be associating with the IPL as match official for the fourth consecutive term this year.
While speaking to Nation Next, 46-year-old Gandhe said, I’ll be leaving for Chennai on March 31 as I’ve tested COVID-19 negative. Despite lockdown since last year, BCCI has been trying its best to conduct maximum games as lot of people’s livelihoods depend on it.
When asked about following safety measures vis-à-vis COVID-19, Gandhe said, After reaching the hotel, we have to strictly get quarantined for seven days. We take RT-PCR tests thrice and if our third test is negative, only then we proceed further. We are made to live in a bio-bubble. We’re provided a makeshift gym, etc. Even drivers, cooks, etc., have to go through the same procedure.

Virat Kohli
A day after India lost the test cricket series to South Africa (1-2), Virat Kohli stepped down as the test captain of India on Saturday (January 15). Kohli made the announcement through a social media post.
Kohli’s statement read: “It’s been 7 years of hard work, toil and relentless perseverance everyday to take the team in the right direction. I’ve done the job with absolute honesty and left nothing out there. Every thing has to come to a halt at some stage and for me as Test Captain of India, it’s now.”
He added: “There have been many ups and also some downs along the journey, but never has there been a lack of effort or lack of belief. I have always believed in giving my 120 percent in everything I do, and if I can’t do that, I know it’s not the right thing to do. I have absolute clarity in my heart and I cannot be dishonest to my team.”
Kohli also thanked the BCCI as he wrote: “”I want to thank BCCI for giving me the opportunity to lead my country for such a long period of time and more importantly to all the teammates who bought into the vision for the team from day one and never gave up in any situation.”
