Nagpur’s Alfiya Pathan (81+ kg category) won India’s first gold medal at 30th Adriatic Pearl Tournament in Budva, Montenegro, as she defeated Daria Kozorev of Moldova. Alfiya, who’s a 2019 Asian junior girls champion, during her bout against Daria, looked in complete control with her swift movement and precise punches. Alfiya finally notched up an easy 5-0 win.
Other Indian boxers too continued their fine run in the competition as five of them headed to the finals in the tournament. Gitika (48 kg), Babyrojisana Chanu (51 kg), Vinka (60 kg), Arundhati (69 kg) and Sanamacha Chanu (75 kg) made it to the finals in their respective categories.
