Nagpur Police collect over Rs 22 lakh fine in 20 days from residents for not wearing face mask
In a span of 20 days, Nagpur Police along with Nuisance Detection Squad (NDS) of the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) collected a fine of Rs 22,70,500 from residents across the city for not wearing a face mask from September 4 to September 24.
On Thursday, September 24, as many as 261 people were fined Rs 1,30,500 for not wearing mask in public places amid COVID-19 pandemic.
Earlier, the fine for not wearing a mask in the city was Rs 200, which on September 13 was increased to Rs 500.
Details of total cases and fines collected in 20 days are as under:
5470 (residents) x Rs 200 fine = Rs 10,94,000
2353 (residents) x Rs 500 fine = Rs 11,76,500
Total ? 7823 (residents) = Rs 22,70,500.
Nagpur’s COVID-19 tally, on Tuesday, January 25, reached 5,43,064 (till 5 pm) as 4028 (972 from rural and 2956 from city) new cases were recorded in a single day.
Also, active COVID cases, as on Tuesday, could be seen inching closer to 30,000 mark in the district.
Nagpur’s COVID-19 tally on Sunday, January 2 reached 4,94,193 (till 5 pm) as 90 (73 city, nine rural) more people tested positive for the virus.
Nagpur registered 88 (81 from city) new COVID-19 positive cases on Friday, December 31. Nagpur previously had recorded as minimum as six cases on December 24.
