Nagpur Metro rail to provide e-cycles to commute between stations and your home, workplace

Nagpur Metro rail would soon provide its commuters a facility wherein they can travel from their home or workplace to the Metro Station and vice versa through e-cycles and e-scooters. Dr Brijesh Dixit, Managing Director of Maha Metro, on Thursday officially inaugurated the bicycles and e-cycles, which would be available for passengers for hire purpose at stations.

Also, Nagpur Metro rail is soon going to make two of its routes operational by February end. The two routes, which would be a total stretch of 19 kms (that would include eight stations), would commence from Khapri to Sitabuldi Munje Square (13 kms) and between Lokmanya Nagar to Subhash Nagar (6 kms).

Mahesh Gupta, Additional General Manager of Maha Metro, said that the facility of cycles has been provided in collaboration with Bounce Company. The cycles would be available at all eight stations (Khapri, New Airport, Airport, South, Airport, Jaiprakash Nagar, Sitabuldi, Lokmanya Nagar and Subhash Nagar).

Dixit informed media persons that the bicycles, which are connected with GPS, would be available for Rs one for 10 minutes on a monthly subscription basis. The service, which would be available through a mobile app, would be charged at Rs 300 for cycles and Rs 600 for e-cycles per month respectively.

Interestingly, passengers can park their cycles at their destination, from where Metro contractors would pick them up if the passengers don’t want to come back to the station. Also, other passengers would also be able to use the same cycles from that location.

Anil Kokate, General Manager (administration) at Maha Metro, told Nation Next, Wherever there’s enough parking space available for 100 cycles/e-cycles/e-scooters at the stations, we?ll make our vehicles available there. For demonstration purpose, currently we’ve tied up with Bounce Company, with whom we’ve made an MOU as well. Companies like Kinetic and Ola are also showing interest for the same.

1st COVID-19 case in Ramdaspeth crops up near Cabinet Minister Vijay Wadettiwars residence

For the first time, a resident of Ramdaspeth tested positive for Coronavirus on Saturday. The patient, who is said to be residing in an apartment near Cabinet Minister for Relief and Rehabilitation in the Maha Vikas Aghadi and senior Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwars residence (behind Tuli Imperial), is said to be a middle-aged woman. 

The patient is reportedly connected to a resident from Mominpura. However, nothing concrete as of now can be said about the same. More details are awaited.

Nagpur: 91 test positive in 24 hours making COVID-19 tally rise to 1266

Nagpur COVID-19 tally as on June 20 rose to 1266 after 91 people tested positive for the virus in past 24 hours. Out of the total 91, while 69 patients belonged to Naik Talao/Bangladesh, 11 from Shantinagar, four from Lashkaribagh, three from Ganeshpeth, one from Uppalwadi, one from Ramdaspeth, one from Mehendibagh and one belonged to Mominpura.

Out of the total, 823 have been cured and over 333 are currently being treated upon.

Nagpur man discovers 4-month-old foetus in gutter; cops suspect illegal abortion

In yet another shocking incident, a resident named Rahul Tumane discovered a 4-month-old foetus lying in an abandoned condition behind his house (near plot number 13, behind Kajal Bar and Restaurant area) in Pardi inside a gutter. 

Police inspector Sunil Chavan told Nation Next that a four-month-old foetus, wrapped in a cloth, was found lying inside a gutter near a house on Thursday night in Pardi. Chavan also informed that the foetus was sent for an autopsy to Mayo Hospital and the reports are awaited. Police have suspected the possibility of abandonment after an illegal abortion. 

A case has been registered under Section 318 (Concealment of birth by secret disposal of a dead body) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) on the basis of a complained filed by Tumane.
