Month after recovering from COVID-19, 21-year-old girl dies due to non-availability of ICU bed in Pune

A 21-year-old girl, who had recovered from COVID-19 a month ago, died at Pune Jumbo COVID-19 facility in Nehru Nagar on Saturday two hours after she was discharged from a private hospital due to non-availability of an ICU bed. Even though the girl recovered from coronavirus, she started feeling uneasy five days ago. The girl had been suffering from a severe form of tuberculosis from a long time.

As per reports, the girl was admitted to Dr DY Patil Hospital in Pimpri when her condition deteriorated five days ago. On Saturday, she was discharged from the hospital with the doctors saying that she should be shifted to another hospital as there was no ICU bed at the Dr DY Patil hospital as ICU beds are reserved for COVID-19 positive patients and the girl was COVID-19 negative. Another hospital at Moshi was contacted by doctors and ambulance was provided to shift the girl.
