The two-day LAD College cake fest 2016 ? Spectrum ? in association with Nation Next as the media partner, was organised at the LAD College Seminary Hills campus recently by the colleges Department of Hotel Management and Catering Technology. This annual cake fest which is a part of curriculum of Hotel Management and Catering Technology students was inaugurated by Chef and Director of Food and Beverage, Radisson Blu, Nagpur – Vikas Pal, Director of Womens Education Society – Panna Akhani, Principal of LAD College and Smt RP college for women ? Dr Shyamala Nair and Manager, Haldirams – Naresh Duggal.
Like every year, at the cake fest, students of LAD College prepared several delicious which included various flavours of cakes, muffins, doughnuts, pizza, garlic bread, subwiches, sandwiches, chai muffins etc. Needless to say, these food items were loved by one and all.
Talking about a unique food item ? Chai Muffin – Third year student of Hotel Management and Catering Technology of LAD college and Sous chef Payal Chanchalani said, This chai muffin represents two different generations. Chai represents a comparatively older generation which loves tea and muffin represents today’s generation! Both the generations are loving this food item and I can’t be happier!
Apart from the delicious delicacies, what made the fest a memorable affair was a Zumba session conducted at the campus by Zumba instructors Anuradha Palkar and Subodh Ingle. At the session many girls from LAD were seen shaking a leg with the instructors on songs like Cheap Thrills, Zingaat and more. The Zumba session was injected with a high dose of energy when some of the teachers too joined the session!
The entire fest was managed by the students of third year of the college. Sayali Meshram (General Manager), Payal Chanchlani (Sous Chef), Runal Bhasme (F and B Manager), Pinky Barve (Assistant F and B Manager), Bhumeshwari Naktode (Housekeeping Manager), Snehal Deshmukh (Stewarding Manager), Rual Soni (Sales and marketing manager), Richa Lalwani (Finance Manager), Srishti Kapoor (Décor Manager) along with other students worked tirelessly to make the fest a fun and a delicious affair.

Nagpur’s LAD College celebrates 90 years of existence at ‘Navrang’
Nagpur’s esteemed educational institution LAD College celebrated 90 years of existence at a valedictory function called ‘Navrang’ on May 7, 2022. Nagpur District Collector and Magistrate R Vimala was the chief guest at the function.
Prominently present at the occasion were Dr Avinash Deshmukh (Vice President, Women’s Education Society), Dr Harsha Jharia (Chief Administrative Office, WES) Dr Deepali Kotwal (Principal, LAD College), Dr Nanda Rathi (Co-Ordinator of the year-long celebrations), Dr M Pantula, (Treasurer, WES), Pratiksha Mayee, entrepreneur Shilpa Agrawal, alumnae, students and faculty members.
During her address, R Vimala spoke about the essence of solidarity, fraternity and humility to achieve success on humanitarian grounds. Dr Deshmukh reiterated the thoughts put forth regarding women development for the progression of the society.
Dr Kotwal expressed her gratitude towards all those who consistently worked towards the dream set forth by YM Pathak since 1932 and acknowledged the contribution of each LADian. Shilpa Agrawal, alumni of the college, was felicitated during the occasion for her contribution towards the society as an entrepreneur.
A souvenir, titled Navrang, documenting several voices of its alumnae, teachers and administrators was unveiled by R Vimala and other dignitaries present on the dais. A special feature ‘An Ode to the Institution: Nine Decades Down Memory Lane’ denoting the glorious journey of LAD College was showcased by an award-winning video made by Zainab Burhani.
Dr Rathi informed the gathering with the nine different events marking each decade that were initiated by the college. Another section – Appreciation, Reminiscences and Reunion – had all those associated with the college, express their feelings, emotions and gratitude towards their alma mater. The programme was marked by cultural event comprising of classical dance form performed by students and songs sung by the staff members.
The programme was hosted by Dr Vaikhari Wazalwar, co-convenor of the event and Dr Laila Bhairayya. The vote of thanks was proposed by Dr Karuna Ganvir – the convener of the event. The entire teaching and non-teaching staff contributed immensely for the success of the programme.

Students floor audience with their performances at Gaikwad Patil College’s ‘Flashmob 2K22’
Students of Nagpur’s Tulsiramji Gaikwad Patil College of Engineering and Technology impressed the audience present with their performances at ‘Flashmob 2K22’ organised by the training and placement department of the college recently.
The event kick started after remarks from Director Dr Prashant Kadu. RJ Nisha from Big FM 92.7 was also present during the event, which also consisted of installation of the Mavericks Students forum. Apart from enabling the students to have some fun, the event also aimed at instilling interpersonal skills, confidence and critical thinking for solving real world problems.
Waseem Qureshi, Shweta Bhoyar, Chetan Jambhulkar, Abhay Rewatkar, Sandeep Thakre, Pravin Petkar, Rohit Deshmukh, Akansha Bhondade, Kavish Gaurkhede and all Mavericks Students forum members worked tirelessly to make the event a grand success.

Students, parents have fun-filled day at ‘Wonderland’ organised by Jain International School in Nagpur
Jain International School (JIS), on December 19, hosted a fun fete – Wonderland: A Fun Fiesta’ for the students of JIS and their feeder kindergarten – Little Jewels. At the fete, parents and friends of the students of the school were also invited. The event was a great opportunity for the students to have a fun time with their friends, parents and teachers after a long time.
The theme of the fete was Fantasy. Abiding by the theme, children, parents and teachers were dressed as their favourite ‘fantasy’ character. Following all the COVID-19 protocols strictly, teachers, dressed up as popular fantasy characters, rolled out the red carpet for students and organized a plethora of super exciting activities.
An eye-catching fantasy backdrop coupled with music and dance left the attendees extremely delighted. The event included one-of-a-kind games such as Kill Voldemort and Witchs Hat Ring Toss. Interesting activities related to pottery and tattoo making along with a food court with several delicacies to feast on kept the attendees in good spirits.
Senior Principal Anmol Badjatia and members of the management of Jain International School lauded the teachers and the organizing committee for their efforts in making the event a success.
