It’s autocracy, not democracy: Bawankule on Maha govt. reducing Fadnavis security
Maharashtra government, on Sunday, reduced the security cover of Devendra Fadnavis, former Maharashtra CM and the current Leader of Opposition in State Assembly.
Fadnavis bullet-proof car and extra security staff was taken away. Reportedly, the senior BJP leaders pilot car has also been taken away.
Reacting to this, former Maharashtra Minister and senior BJP leader Chandrashekhar Bawankule told Nation Next, This is revenge politics; it’s not in Maharashtra’s culture. Ministers of this government have four pilot cars, where as 40 ministers in our then BJP-led state government functioned without any pilot cars.
He added, I don’t know, which agency did the security audited. All I can say is this will compromise the former CM Fadnavis’ security. I demand the state government to first conduct a security audit of their ministers and not play inter-personal politics.”
He further stated, This government does things their way. They think that their say is the law; whatever they do is supreme. I don’t know whether this was a personal or a political decision; they are converting democracy into autocracy.
Along with Fadnavis, security cover of MNS Chief Raj Thackeray, BJP’s State Chief Chandrakant Patil and BJP leader Sudhir Mungantiwar were also removed.
According to the state government, a full proof safety-security audit was done before reducing the security of the leaders.
