Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on December 23, 2017, laid the foundation stone for India’s first Smart Police Station at Lakadganj Police Station premises, Nagpur. The Bhoomi Poojan was done in the presence of Nagpur Police Commissioner Dr K Venkatesham, Joint CP Shivaji Bodhke, DCP Rahul Mankikar, Nagpur Mayor Nanda Jichkar, Rajya Sabha MP Vikas Mahatme, Shyam Wardhane, MLAs Sudhakar Deshmukh, Vikas Kumbhare, Krishna Khopde and Dr Milind Mane and MLCs Anil Sole and Girish Vyas.
The entire project other than a 11-storeyed smart police station will include a residential cum commercial complex spread across 19,365 sq.meters. The entire cost of the project is estimated to be Rs 145 crore. The smart police station will also include facilities like swimming pool, activity centre, garden, gymnasium, clinic, a community hall with capacity of 500 people, etc. It will also have offices of Assistant Commissioner of Police and Deputy Commissioner of Police.
Addressing the people present, Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis informed that the state government is planning to construct one lakh houses for police personnel, who have been living in deteriorated premises, some of which are more than 200 years old. He also informed that in the last three years, 3000 houses have already been built and 7000 are near completion and 47,000 units are in tendering process. Additionally, police personnel will be able to get loan for the ownership of houses post retirement at reduced interest rate and builders engaged in developing the premises will be provided with 2.5 FSI.
Emphasizing on the importance of technological advancement, Fadnavis praised Nagpur Police for bringing down the police deployment during the recently concluded winter session by 38% with the help of technology. He also said that with the start of smart police station, citizens will be able to lodge e-complaints through mobile app and will also be able to see the status of their complaints.

1st COVID-19 case in Ramdaspeth crops up near Cabinet Minister Vijay Wadettiwars residence

For the first time, a resident of Ramdaspeth tested positive for Coronavirus on Saturday. The patient, who is said to be residing in an apartment near Cabinet Minister for Relief and Rehabilitation in the Maha Vikas Aghadi and senior Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwars residence (behind Tuli Imperial), is said to be a middle-aged woman.
The patient is reportedly connected to a resident from Mominpura. However, nothing concrete as of now can be said about the same. More details are awaited.

Nagpur: 91 test positive in 24 hours making COVID-19 tally rise to 1266
Nagpur COVID-19 tally as on June 20 rose to 1266 after 91 people tested positive for the virus in past 24 hours. Out of the total 91, while 69 patients belonged to Naik Talao/Bangladesh, 11 from Shantinagar, four from Lashkaribagh, three from Ganeshpeth, one from Uppalwadi, one from Ramdaspeth, one from Mehendibagh and one belonged to Mominpura.
Out of the total, 823 have been cured and over 333 are currently being treated upon.

Nagpur man discovers 4-month-old foetus in gutter; cops suspect illegal abortion
In yet another shocking incident, a resident named Rahul Tumane discovered a 4-month-old foetus lying in an abandoned condition behind his house (near plot number 13, behind Kajal Bar and Restaurant area) in Pardi inside a gutter.
Police inspector Sunil Chavan told Nation Next that a four-month-old foetus, wrapped in a cloth, was found lying inside a gutter near a house on Thursday night in Pardi. Chavan also informed that the foetus was sent for an autopsy to Mayo Hospital and the reports are awaited. Police have suspected the possibility of abandonment after an illegal abortion.
A case has been registered under Section 318 (Concealment of birth by secret disposal of a dead body) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) on the basis of a complained filed by Tumane.
