Gracing the eighth convocation of Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University, Gandhinagar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said that India is going through an important phase of change and the next 25 years would be an important period for the nation.

Addressing the University’s students virtually, PM Modi said, “Today’s India is undergoing an important phase of change. You have a responsibility to shape the current and future of the country. India is completing its 75 years of independence in 2022. And we will complete 100 years of independence in 2047. This means these 25 years of independence will be the most important years. India’s most important 25 years are in tune with your important years,” he said.

Speaking on current COVID-19 pandemic situation and employment, PM Modi said that major changes are taking place around the world and there are several opportunities available for the growth of entrepreneurship and employment. “It is not an easy task to graduate at a time when the world is facing such a big crisis, but the students’ abilities are much bigger than these challenges. You are entering the industry at a time when due to pandemic, major changes are taking place in energy sector across the world,” he said.
The Prime Minister urged students to have a purpose in life. “It’s not that successful people don’t have problems, but the one who accepts the challenges, confronts them, defeats them and solves the problem only succeed. Those who take on challenges later succeed in life, and those who feel a sense of burden, fail. The youth of the 1922-1947 period sacrificed everything for freedom.”
PM Modi asked the students to live for the country and join the movement of Atmanirbhar Bharat and develop a sense of responsibility to succeed in life.
During the convocation ceremony, the PM Modi laid the foundation stone of ‘45 MW Production Plant of Monocrystalline Solar PhotoVoltaic Panel’ and ‘Centre of Excellence on Water Technology.’

He also inaugurated ‘Innovation and Incubation Centre- Technology Business Incubation’, ‘Translational Research Centre and Sports Complex at the University.’
